Right i have my rear 6x4's upgraded so i am getting a nice amount of volume and clarity, but now i need to get the deep bass going.

Dont really want to go for a sub and 6x9's are out of the question due to it being a cordy and having a metal bulkhead under the parcel shelf. So i want some decent front speakers that will really give me a rich bass sound.

My friend has a MK1 Leon FR and i think the standard door speakers in that are fantastic, so thats the kind of sound i am trying to achieve in the cordy. being as b pillar forward its identical to a mk2 ibiza i thought i'd ask you guys for some suggestions.

Cheers

Go to Source in Sheffield. Not trying to advertise there work but they know what there talking about. IASCA trophies everywhere is enough to show their credentials.

In mine I have a rainbow front component set which I hope to have amped up in the future. My tweeters for it have replaced the tiny 10cm speakers in the dash and the 6.5"'s sit in the door card.

What ever your budget they will be able to advise you best.

The big advantage the Leons have is sealed doors. The metal inner skin helps a lot with the midbass sound.

I'd be tempted to suggest you get yourself a set of JL Audio Components ( as they can produce the midbass you are after ) but be aware that getting the sound you want isn't going to be quite so simple as bashing them in the doors.

I'd be looking at getting a bulk pack of Dynamat Extreme, do the outer door skin with about 1.5 sheets in each door, then do the door card with a sheet or two on each side, and then do any exposed metalwork on the inner skin covering the wholes in it. Also filling up the cavities in the original door speaker pods with fiberglass, or maybe even building new ones out of MDF will help.

What you are trying to acheive is getting the speakers mounted as solidly as possible to the doors, and then reducing any resonance in the door by damping the metal and door card.

Surcalation - i'll give them a try as they are close to me and i have heard good things before, got aaround £100 to spend so they should be able to sort something out hopefully.

Pete - cheers for the info on the doors. I figured this might have some impact on the sound as i got much better sound from the same speakers in a MK4 Polo which had much sturdier door cards.
