Ive had the Revo Trial and didnt really get the best use from it because my cooling fan was knackered and didnt really want to over-do it and walk home, now its in the garage having the fan done and I get it back friday, can I have the Revo Trial again or do they only let you once?

Who else does a free trial of re-mapping software?

Hi Mate
We offer a free trial.
It is ECU dependant though on your year.
It must be DBW and then ECU dependant but we could offer you a free trial.
Give us a call if you like on 0161 7760777
Go through to sales and we will help you all we can.
Hope this helps
Sarah

i was going to say, have you looked at others apart from revo? notice from your sig you want revo, any plans to go CC, APR, Jabba etc? I've had a few from different companies and settled for jabba, best results

I guess I'm not set on going Revo, was impresed with olly20vts cc map so would try them, the only reason I wanted revo is because I thought they were the only ones that did a free trial and what i got to test was good, but the spikes Ive been reading about on here have made me wonder what others would be like.

Cheers Sarah I think mines dbw, dont know engine code but can find out friday, but its the mk3 ibiza cupra 1.8t 20v so if you've mapped other cars like mine then it should be the same.

i'd have a guess at it being an AQX as its on an X plate, have a look in the service book or the V5 and it should say on the engine no. (well it does on my mates Cordoba SX with a ABF engine, the engine no. starts ABFXXXX)

its the ECU number they need, either by physically looking at it or getting it scanned (vag-com or similar)

isnt the trial 5 hours of "drive time" and not real time.

yes it is 5 hours drive time, but I dont feel I had a proper feel for it because my fan was playing havoc, it was shaking so bad when the car was locked it would remain on for about 20 minutes after and set the alarm off every 2-3 mins, so I got a bit paranoid of accelerating too much and for a long time (private road)
I know its my fault for being impatient to try it out before i got the fan fixed but I really would like to test different ones including another (what I would call) 'proper' one from revo

Does there software recognise if you've already had is done and not allow it or is it at the discretion of the garage for a genuine re-test

Im not sure, i think it may, but there may be a way around it because, if you've bought a car that has already had the trial, then that means that you cant have it, if there isnt a way around it. Im sure Revo Kev will be able to help with that.

i had the revo trial just a couple weeks back and it felt awesome. same situation as you though, i'm only gonna go for revo because i got a 'taster'. but now my mates are confusing me withh CC and APR! if i could get a tester out of either of them, it would make things a lot eaier, as competition with these companies seem fierce!

Mike when are you back up here mate, you could have a drive of mine if you like? My car came with APR but i went for REVO in the end as it felt alot more punchier. APR gave a smoother power delivery band held slightly longer up the rev range. There really was nothing in it but REVO feels faster off the mark.

A CustomCode would be good if your planning some crazy mods (k03s/k04 etc) but IIRC Olly paid around £600 for his map.

If i was you i'd start looking for a 2nd hand chipped ECU, i sold my APR for £200 and i bought my REVO for £150.

Cheers pete, im going to be about in the next couple of weeks so that'd be great to have a test, but I am actually now waiting for a k03s and TIP to arrive in the post so unsure which one would suit these mods better? May also (in time when funds allow) get a better CAI and Forge FMIC.

As you say it would be much better to get a revo'd ecu for £150 than pay £500 for it done properly but they seem hard to come by so might just wait until I can get it done by a garage

but until then..... I want the trials from different companies so I can choose where to spend my money when I find the one I like best, because personal preference seems to alter through all of the re-map / chip software, I did like the revo but I dont think i found its full potential due to my fan but want to know im choosing revo not because I simply havent tried anyone elses!

any free trials in bedfordshire/gloucestershire let me know?

Just to let you know I got my car back today and asked for the revo trial again and they said it wasnt possible because of the software limits, apparantly if you've had the trial once then thats all you can have,

so dont know what people do that buy a cupra that has had the trial beforehand and then try and get the trial again under their ownership?

Secondhand ecu with revo it is then :D

anybody? lol
