had my fr tdi just under a couple of months now, love the car but the brakes seem to have gone off over the last couple of weeks

it started the other weekend when i had a grinding noise when braking and it wasn't hard, slowing to a junction and it felt like i had no brakes as i was used to more stopping power so came as a surprise

then has been the way for a week or 2 now but yesterday i parked on a friends driveway which was a slight slope, and the handbrake didn't hold the car in position and the slope is quite gentle

so i was wondering if a free brake check at kwik fit is worth it to see what they say

Take the wheel off and check the pad's yourself, make sure you check the inside pad.
I would'nt let Kwikfit touch a push bike never mind my car.

I wouldn't go to Kwik Fit.

However - take it for the free test at Nationwide Autocentres. Twice I've taken my car into my local, and twice they have given it a clean bill of health. Recently, they let me know my caliper on one side wasn't working as well as another, but told me not to worry about it and that it doesn't need changing. They also checked my oil, discovered it was low and topped it up for me free of charge.
