After hearing this weekend that the FR TDI will soon be available with DSG I was wondering what peoples experiences are with DSG on the 140 TDI leon? Drove the new CR FR and was thoroughly impressed as the engine was so quiet and the ride so different.
cheers

DSG has been available with the 170 TDI in other VAG cars ie Skoda Octavia and Audi A3 but up until now not the Leon FR TDI. I was told by the dealer at the weekend that they should be available to order from around week 42.

Yep, the option came available with the restyling... Funny thing is that the Max Torque of the motor is equal to the Max amount the DSG can handle, both 350 Nm. What I conclude is that the official torque limit for the DSG is really conservative.

Does that mean you would pushing the DSG over the limit with a remap? Hopefully will get to try before I buy even if only a 140 with DSG but would really appreciate the views of current/past users of DSG

As far as I understand, the DSG MCU ensures that the motor will not send more torque than the gearbox can handle.... So from that point of view your gearbox would be safe, but you would not be getting all the juice from the remap.

Some SW developers such as Unitronic claim that DSG reflash is not required whereas other such as GIAC say it is....

Is a controversial topic, I supose....
