Was up bright & early this morning to take a newly-arrived FR TDI out for its first (customer) test drive :D

...Turned out to have 18"s, convenience pack & bluetooth on board & a black magic paint job.

OMG, what an improvement on the Mk. #1 [B)]
Solid, smooth, glued to the road & rapid to boot :funk:

I've now got mine on order but am looking towards mid October for delivery

Let the waiting commence!

I have also been and test drove one this morning, gave them the bullsh*t excuse of, oh, im looking at buying one, can i take it out for a test drive ;). It was a TDI and also in black magic. The ride was nice and firm, the dash and instruments are very nice etc etc. It seemed to me to be a little bit laggy, maybe it was me just getting used to the way the accelerator was as its different to my ibiza( goes from the floor as apposed to from the top) and the map was very smooth. Also the clutch was very very light, as apposed to most other diesels in the vag range, It was kinda petrol like.

I dont think i would have one though tbh, yes, its a very nice car inside and out, but just not for me:shrug: .

Enjoy your new car mate, im sure you'll love it :)

Well, let's hope so, eh?

Not that I have much choice in the matter, other than taking a trip to Barcelona & liberating one from t'production line!

I am very surprised by this as i have also ordered one exactly the same spec as the one you test drove. On me saying yes i wanted one about 2 weeks ago it has already been delivered and i am picking it up on Saturday.

He just called it off whilst it was still on a boat heading to our shores and 5 days later its in the dealers. Obviously it depends on what spec you have ordered perhaps i was just lucky but he did comment on nearly all the cars on the first shipment were all loaded with various options but commented on how many were avaliable on the computer screen not ordered yet?????

The delay is largely down to mine being a factory order along with the impact of the August close down.

There were some choices my dealer has on order, but nothing quite close enough in terms of the options I want - None of theirs had xenons for instance...

You could do what I've done & get your order into the system.
My dealer gave me a bit of grace to change my mind on the colour & switch.

That said, given long enough, I could probably keep changing right up until delivery & end up up with each panel in a different colour

Happy deciding :D

We ordered our magic black TDI FR (on 18s) last week. We don't have a delivery date yet, though have insisted on it being registered with a 56 plate (for resale value later on...our 53 plate Ibiza 130 sport goes back at the end of sept so we're in no major hurry, yet).

The guy in the dealer seemed to think that it could arrive quite quickly (it has bluetooth, ipod, 18s options). We have the option of borrowing a car to fill the gap if it arrives later than the lease car hand in.

Can't wait! :)

:bounce:

Near enough Two months now...
This waiting game's no fun. Today would've been a lovely day for a run, too.

:givein:

Prob not much used to you now but Chippenham Motors Seat have a full spec met black in their showrooms for at least the last 4wks - the best price on line I've seen for a FR in met black is just over 16k
