FR TDI 4th year Service

Hi all,

Just phoned Seat for a price for my 2008 FR TDI 4th year service and was intially quoted £399, which included a coolant change. Then manged to get it down to £299 as my car was old enough to be included in the new Seat servicing offers.

Still seems pretty steep, what have you all paid?

Am seriously thinking of taking it to an independent garage due to the cost but am a bit wary?!

What do you think?

Any help would be much appreciated.:D

Cheers

I might be wrong but my car is due a cam belt change at 4th year service so i would check that one. This can vary the price a LOT!!!

When I went to my local 2 weeks ago I was told the majority of their Dealers are now on a fixed Servicing/Routine Maintenance pricing scheme:

So according to their "Budget planners" 4 year work is Cambelt (The quoted £299) and the Service (£249) and obviously MOT at £39 (They also claim/advise Aircon, but an indie could probably do it for half the price just as well!) - you could try your luck at a reduction on these, but seeing as they're fixed across the Leon range at the mo, I couldn't even guess at your luck above 0%!

As an average price against independents it seems very good to me IMO - the indie next door to my local Dealer was another £90 odd for the same work.

Hope this helps :)

They never mentioned the Cambelt but it does imply that it's needed every 4 years so will check.

Thanks for the advice.
