FR tdi 17"s rubbing?

Guest
Hi all,

I've just aquired an ex demo 56 reg 5dr TDI FR with the 17' alloys and 205/40/17 tyres,
when I put it on full lock (left or right) there is a knock (just 1 either way) and it sounds like the wheels are rubbing the arches when doing 3 point turns etc.

Surely this isn't right , has anyone encountered this problem before, shall I take it back to SEAT? Its only done 2000 miles.

Cheers

Grant

Take it back to seat as it will be a warranty freebie job

They're 215/40/17's on the new facelift fr anyway, just looked at SEAT site.

They shouldn't rub though, mine do because i'm silly low!

mine make a knocking noise when turning round corners when moving, but they do rub slight when on full lock.

i have had the ebach springs on so put it down to them, no point taking it to dealers as they would just blame springs.

noticed ours rub on full right lock in reverse!!

it's going back to dealers AGAIN tomorrow for the headlight washers (4th time now, and they still dont work!!!!)
going to mention it and see what they do????

I've juts checked and mine has 205 width tyres on it, however these are obviously narrower than 215's so I dont know why its rubbing?!

I'll have a look tomorrow what profile my tyres are, but I can safely say I've not encountered any rubbing.

knocking could be the rack or loose wheelnuts check that all 20-25torx are in wheelsheild as if not can be flapping around causing rubbing

i have a fr with 205/40/17/ if the wheels rub on full lock eather way when reversing it could be the wheel rubbing on the wheel arch liner, mine did the same, dealer just adjusted it

facelifted FR's are 205/40/17's matey! Mine rubs when reversing on an angle and sometmes even squeels. When it's service time I'll mention it as it's not that often I'm reversing on an angle etc, so doesn't bother me too much.

Well my cars been to the dealers, the said that SEAT put the wrong inner arch liners in and that's why they were rubbing, they swapped them for the right ones under warranty and now I have no rubbing at all!

However I have now got the 1500-1800k rpm hesitation that the dealers said they cannot find, one thing after another!
