Greeting all,

I am having an odd problem with the CC in my Fr. It seems to lack any concept of what temperature the inside of the car is.

I set the temp to Auto 23c and when the car warms up you get nice hot air pumping out all over the place....however what then seems to happen is that it reaches the temp you have set and just looses the will to live!

I nearly froze to death last night as even on manual, HI and full blowers there just was no hot air comming out of anywere other then a slight breeze when you put your hand over the vents.

After parking up, turning the car off and then starting again I got hot air blowing out all over the place again!!!!

Anyone had anything like this / know what I can check?

As it only realy shows after hours of driving a dealer is just not going to see the issue...

Thanks

CB

There have been problems reported about the aircon before but I've never had them. Seems like warranty work. I'm assuming the engine has fully heated up in your post. Nothing too much happens till then, then it starts the cycle, but saying that a few people have had issues on here in the past with the CC having a mind of it's own. Pleased with mine except it doesn't handle condensation too well.

Thanks for the reply. Yes the engine was warm, it happened again to me yesterday when on a 3 hour drive.

xxxxxxx =25c
xx x
T xx x
E xxx x
M xxx
P xxxxx =20c
Time

I hope that kind of makes sence, it reached temperature and then just stops, I even tryed opening the windows for 60 seconds doing 70mph with an outside temp of 4.5c! In auto mode, the CC just sat there as I froze.

I was thinking, where is the temp sensor for the cabin, and does it need calibration? / can it be re-calibrated?

We can safely say it's not working. Why it switched in after you had parked it up I guess is that the engine may have heated up by then if a short journey, but on a long drive, the engines hot and no car heating means it's not working :). If you bash the up and down temperature it should respond. Probably the sensors or something.

23C seems rather warm to be setting the temp to - do you wear shorts when driving?? Setting the temperature higher doesn't make the air warm up any faster - set it at 21, perhaps 21.5 on aut and leave well alone - a howling gale of cold air through the heater matrix on start up doesn't help the engine to warm up either!

Well I've been carrying out detailed observation on my CC with the short commute in the colder weather for the last two months and basically it runs at about two bars across unless you put it on blow as in defrost the windscreen, when the engines hot enough it then bangs up to five bars. I suspect that Barry's heater isn't working from all that he's said since the Altea is pretty cosy once the engines hot after about five or six miles. I'm old enough to get the odd ache and pain cold induced, so I'm into these things ;).

I think that I may be loosing something when writing this out.

The CC behaves exactly how it should from cold up to the point where the cabir reaches the temp set. once it gets there it's like it said 'well that's that, i'm off to bed'

At this point the cabin slowly gets colder from natural heat bleed but nothing short of manual HI with full blower gets you feeling any warmer!

As I said a few posts back, the other day after a 3 hour drive I did this test

1. Temp on 26c with auto
2. speed 70 mph
3. outside air temp at 4.5c
4. opened all four windows all the way for 1 minute
5. closed windows
6. notes zero change in the 4 bars of fan power and lack of hot blast from the opened dash vents.

LOL, now I read that I should have started with that list :)
