Hello :)

I'm looking at changing my mk4 Golf GT TDI PD150 to the new Leon FR 170 in the near future & need some SEAT advice

My Golf is running a Jabba remap at the moment, & when I test drove the FR 170 it was obviously lacking compaired .

I've read on other forums that Revo are doing a remap for the latest VAG 2.0 TDI which runs up to 210bhp, but cant find any info on it :(

Can anybody confirm this remap & even offer feed back from having it installed.

Thanks in advance

I've been told that the Revo remap for the TDi FR 170 only puts it up to 185- same as 140 bhp model! As you say maybe they are developing another one but I was told this by a Revo dealer.

£499 + VAT seems like a lot of money for a 15 bhp increase really.

Tooooo right, thats £39.08 pr bhp :(

My Golfs putting 185bhp/285lb out now (JBS RR) so for that £££ I want a bit more "Umph"

I wonder if this new Revo will be compatible with running NOS too

By the time we've all got the 170 TDIs and properly run them in the chipping people will be up to speed. I suspect something close to 195 will be possible.

Personally I'm used to the 130 in our Ibiza Sport. The 170 will be powerful enough for a few thousand miles.

The guy that did mine, who works independantly I think, says he gets around 210-215 bhp from the diesel and 260bhp for the new FR petrol! Sounds pretty awesome! I have the last generation petrol FR which is about 210bhp after he remapped it and it fairly flies. He's based in Cumbria.

There are problems with remaping the 140 and 170HP models with the DPF. I read a german magzine on the item. In stead of the huge performance boost promised ( + 35 HP ) only a marginal boost as low as 5 HP was measured. ABT was one of the 6 tuners tested. Eventuely, also these engines can be remapped. Until that time be carefull what you buy.

But is the difference between yout 185 HP and the FR so big?

ABT are claiming 20ps gain on the DPF 170ps engine. This compares to 30ps on the old 140ps engine. What you cant see is the torque difference

I found the article, its about a 2.0 DPF Passat 140 Hp. The ABT promissed 170 Hp and delivered 148 HP. KW systems promised 170 HP and deliverd 141 HP.

But what was the original figure?

With German TUV, the tuner have to be very conservative, therefore i would doubt they would release something with no real gain. Any customer picking the car up wouldnt pay up, they would sure not see no gain!!

The problem is the particle filter. The original engine had 138 HP by the way. The magazine said the problem was the DPF. This makes it much harder to remap beacuse of the risk of blocking the filter. Remapping normal diesels results in extra soot what wil block a DPF. Also the temperture range is much narower for a DPF. But eventuely they will get it right.

Where abouts is the filter? I heard it was something to do with the exhasut system?
It fits in the exhaust system and burns off excess soot to keep emissions down but OEM ones tend to get blocked very easily if remapped. You can get systems developed for race diesel cars if you got the odd thousand pound to spare.
