Thought it was the spare wheel - Nope
Jack - Nope
Boot mechanicism - Nope
Tailgate panel trim - Nope

Its coming from under the boot floor where the exhaust sits  Is there a heat shield under there? or could it just be the exhaust knocking against the under side of the boot floor?!

Best just have a general check around there, if you can get under the back and give the exhaust a bit of a shove and see if you can pin point it - try cold and hot (but remember some gloves if its hot!)

judging on mine i'd say it was the exhaust moutns allowing too much flex in the exhuast.

It was hard to do it without driving around i.e. you couldn't rock it and make the same noise.

Bear in mind the mounts are very strange and not the usual simple rubber ones - They have metal brackets that mount to the car and look as if they are use and throw away. I angle grinded the tube out of the middle and used a nylock nut and bolt instead - worked a treat :)
