Forge - Which one 007P or Splitter

Just got my hands on an 03 plate Cupra 1.8T...

1 month in and I'm after my first mod - so getting straight to the point.

I'm interest in finding out if people are happy with their Forge DV. I really fancy the Forge Splitter because once I get bored of the whoosh I can put the blanking plate on.

Or is the 007P superior?
Also interest in finding out about the issues with both valves.

If there are already decent threads running let me know.

Cheers

Just read your post in the FORGE section so long as you fit it in the way thay show and when you get the right seting you should have no probs.
Depending where your planing on getting it from thay will probaley offer a fitting service. You can at least take it back for adjusting if it does start to rattle

I'v got a SPLIT R and had no problems AmD fitted it and its been fine

a search will show loads of threads...

basically your cars ecu needs a recirculating dump valve. the whoosy atmospheric ones dont tend to work well.

the 007 is a replacement for the stock dv. the stock one can fail. been out ages and works great.

the splitter is trying to do what the 007 does with a woosh.:cartman:

the alternative is fitting an induction kit , dynatwist for example and fitting the 007. youll get more dv noise

only used the 007 myself but had no problems at all.

I've been searching across many threads and have got the general impression that what ever way I choose to go either forge unit would be a worth while mod. Thanks

Would a faulty DV cause a flat spot at low revs?

Sometimes when pulling away slowly in traffic I get what feels like a flat spot. Only seems to happen every a couple of times each week. But next time you pull away its fine.

Plus does a forge splitter loose a shead load of power?

Glad to here there is no drop in power.

I didn't think choosing my first mod would be so difficult - I thought the difficult part would be convincing the wife, but she said 'if it makes you happy do it, just don't go OTT'

I suspect once I've fitted the new DV the test drive will envolve popping into town to look round the shops...!

there is an issue around 3k revs with a few leons. almost like the car reached the requested level of power... and stops giving? press the trottle and the powers back?

if its that... dont lose sleep over it. ive tried lots to sort it but i still get it every now and then. ive decided its a quirk ;)

No its lower down, around 2k. Its when you pull away with very little revs and after a few seconds the traffic starts to free up and its at this point when you apply more revs there is the feeling like the car is being held back.

Once your at 3-4k its gone. Change into 2nd and your off like a rocket.

After the first fill up I've started sticking in 99RON from Tesco's which has helped. Your probably right and its just a quirk.

WOW! i remember when i did my first mod, it too was the D/V but i chose the split R. It has not caused me any problems not even once and its been almost a year.

Oh and get a remap when you can its the best Mod ever! I waited till i got the DV, TIP, Dog bone mount,Induction kit, Exhaust and Sports CAT but i should have got the remap earlier i really cant imagine what driving without a remap was like now. Good luck what ever you do.

Thanks for the post Rik.

Time to ring the insurance company - Nowich Union Direct. Being 33 means they give a good quote, but mods might mean I have to look else where...
