forge TIP disappointment.

fitted a forge TIP on friday night after much trouble getting the car up, i don't no whether i was expecting to much but i haven't noticed any gains or more noise which i thought you got from fitting them especially as i had that fitted and a full turbo back exhaust system with a 100 cell sports all within 3days. if anything the dump noise is quieter! i suppose having the n75 valve knackered is helping the matter but still all that blood, sweat and tears for nothing really!!

Well having a stuffed N75 wont help.

Might be worth gettin that sorted and doing a TB alignment.

tbh, i didnt notice much difference when i fitted mine, spool up was a bit quicker tho.

i noticed faster spool up, loads more noise and probably a slight increase in power and thats revo stage 1??

whichever way you look at it, youve done the right thing....

If you have a problem with your n75 that you know about then you really should sort it asap.

Surely your DV noise will be quieter with the Forge TIP as it locates the DV further away from the air filter than it would be with the standard TIP, does it not?

yeah i thought that, what is a TB alignment?

Its Throttle body allignment mate, basicly have the key in the ignition so all the lights are on but the engine isnt running, Leave it for about 20minutes i think it is and this will allign your throttle body. M0rk done it on mine when we fitted my FMIC and TIP.

IIRC the bonnet and drivers door have to be open in order to start the alignment. (alignment will start as soon as you turn the key) Stick your ear under the hood and you'll hear a whining noise, when the noise stops, its all done. Also im pretty sure you need the engine to be stone cold when doing this, otherwise its pointless.

The forge tip is thicker than the standard item so why would it be louder? Its primary job is function, ie "do not collapse"

quicker spool due to slightly better airflow, In my dodgey opinion the noise can only be associated with modded airboxes or induction kits.
My leon with a standard airbox was almost pathetically silent. Ramair kit after the remap id say was the next biggest change I made to the car.

no the ramair was fitted for months before i changed the tip, it still sounds throaty, no change in tone as far as i can hear. The main difference I noticed was via vagcom that my airflow had increased by 10 g/s (circa 10%) and likes to rev a little more.

edit: EH? i never edited that post fella.

the paragraph:

"My leon with a standard airbox was almost pathetically silent. Ramair kit after the remap id say was the next biggest change I made to the car." wasnt visible to me until after i replied??

never mind.......so ok, fair enough....the induction that im running is completely different to yours as mine is jabba and is obviously open cone, yours has the enclosed heat shield so i can understand that you dont get the same effect.
