boot is one of the biggest for a hatch you can get, i can easily fill it full of loads of crap....

roof rails, i would say they are universal from halfrauds etc...

can get 3 in the back, especially kids, it also has a centre seatbelt.

mite be worth looking at leather with 3 young kids, sick, sweets etc:cartman:

I have a 2 year old son and for the first few month I could have driven a lorry and still not had enough space. The LCR boot is bigger than the MK4 Golf's one and for the size of the car very good. We made the effort to buy buggies that were as compact as possible thinking about the boot space. If your looking for a LCR sized car its very good for space inside but a bigger size of car will give more space. also due to the LCR bucket style rear seats you can only fit two kid seats in there with zero space inbetween.

I`ve had my leon cupra nearly 4 years & there`s enough room for a decent sized pram , my son was 9 months old when I bought it . If you want loads of boot space look at the toledo , we`ve got an `02 110 TDi as well and the boot is huge . We`ve fitted suitcases & the pram/buggy and other bits & pieces when we`ve gone away & it still pulls well when fully loaded

We bought the Leon to replace an S3 for boot space and it faired perfect for the 1st kid. When number 2 was due we bought the Octy VRS (kept the Leon though) which after the first 4 months was really overkill. Once you stop carrying absolutely everything everywhere the LCR would be perfect which is roughly where you are with the 5 month old. For the past year, my Mrs has mostly had the Leon for our 5 year old daughter and the boy (who is now 19 months) old. The Octy has become an expensive means of getting to the station more than anything else and we are considering swapping it for an LCR.

When we go on our treks up to Cheshire doing the family visiting thing, we take the Leon with a weekends worth of stuff. And we use it for the airport when going on hols. In fact, I can't think when we used the Octy in preference anymore other than my Mrs finding the seats more comfy on a long journey.

Ive now got three kiddies and to be honest, im not even going to try and get three car seats in plus the missus and myself, my vrs Occy (my car 2.0 16v tdi, missus drives our cupra which is for sale if we get a decent offer) holds everything the leon can plus a whole heap more. Would it be possible to look at either a mk2 toledo or octavia? They would be my choices from the mid sized vag wagons at the moment. Performance wise they both came with the 1.8 20vt engine and can be remapped well, a slightly later facelift vrs comes with the 2.0 turbo.

Car seat and two adults in the rear no problem, depends what pram/buggy you are using one of ours takes up half the boot from floor to parcel shelf, the other buggy that we'll be using soon barely comes over the loading level into the boot.

we use a travel system and a mclaren double buggy which is huge and that just about fits in the bora, suppose the option of removing parcel shelf in the leon so it just sticks out.

You'll be fine mate. I've got 3 boys, one eleven, one five and one just ten months. To be honest its a struggle with my three because the baby is in one of those huge seats, the middle one in a booster with a back support and my poor eldest has to sit squashed in between them. If we all go out anywhere together we go in our 54 plate Audi A3 which is much bigger in the back but a with 3 year old and a 5 month old you'll be fine for years. The boot is plenty big enough for all the related crap and of course there's child locks on the doors/windows etc.

Just out of interest, what do the kids reckon to your white face???:D

I think you'd be OK with the Leon. We used to carry the travel system pram in ours OK with the MPX wheels for it (About 7" diameter). The older one used to stand on a "Buggy Board" which fits the single buggy and the Mamas & Papas thing (she would have just turned 4 when our son was born). If you don't carry both pushchairs at the same time you'd be OK. Go to your local dealer with them and try them in a Leon. The boots are all the same size (unless its 4x4 where the boot is shallow).

If I were doing it all again, I wouldn't buy the Octavia - but only cos we didn't really need it with hindsight.

I have a graco travel system and that fits fine in the boot. I find it fine, I have 1 kid and a big dog and we got everything for a long weekend away (sun holiday) for us and the dog.
Day to day its sound. Now she is a little older we got a quinney pushchair and that lives in the car.
The boot is loads bigger than any other cars that we looked at, exept a passat estate, but I have never regreted going for the Leon.
