Hello, I wanted to do a folding mirror on key mod, i found the 12v for folding mirrors but it seems that the mirror adjustment 12v is linked to the folding mirrors 12v. Now when i fold it via the knob the mirrors itself also go in fully locked when folding in and completely out when folding mirrors out.

Pin 4 is 12v folding mirror closing (+ also mirror adjustment)
Pin 6 is 12v folding mirror open (+ also mirror adjustment)

Anyone that can help? Or how can I tap into that 12v without the mirror adjustment going all over the places.

Hi there.
I didn't quite understand the question.
- The folding mirrors work well with the knob or not? It opens and stays out of range?
- The key mod is to fold mirrors when you lock and unlock the car with the key remote fob?

1. They work as they should if I don't have the module connected. *
2. Yes indeed thats my point

*it seems that on Pin 4/6 which is 12v for folding/unfolding the mirrors, it also applies voltage for the adjustment motor so the glass itself also moves in or out along with the folding mirror (when I connect my wiring for the module).

Is there another 12v wire for ONLY folding the mirrors without changing the mirror glass adjustment

Ok, now I understood. ;)
I have folding mirrors from stock but don't have the remote fob function - is that activated with VAG-COM or it requires an "extra" module?

I will check my module connections and take a pic so you can compare with yours.

Yeah i have folding mirrors also but just via the knob. But now I wanted to do a mod that detects when the car is locked and the mirror gets folded in and vice versa.

But I don't get why the mirror adjustment is on the same 12v wire as the folding mirrors

Also yes this is not possible in VAG COM, but I think i found my problem (need to cut the wires instead of tapping into them)
if all of this works I could post this in the leon mk1 how to's for the wiring etc. (10 euro module vs a autowindows 80 euro).

Yeah I also saw that autowindow kit but 80euro is a little too much for folding. :rolleyes:

Honestly i dont even know, I still want to have the ability to use the knob tho.
I did cut some wires after the connector shown in post #1 but apparently it should be right between the mirror switch and the shown connector on post #1.

I did try yesterday and apparently I got the wrong wire because after cutting the left folding mirror didn't work, and the right still did.
And the other wire was for the adjustment on the left mirror (which i also cut)

I do test them via a multimeter and it shows me 12v when using it but apparently its sometimes misleading.

This guy on youtube also had the same folding mirrors module and made a nice diagram how it should be::

I know it's not directly connected because when you reconect the battery, it sometimes takes the Convenience system a few attempts at turning the knob for it to start working, if it was directly connected then that wouldn't happen.

Anyway here are some wiring diagrams that might help.

Thank you for the diagrams, i will look into them.
But a few questions:

The switch doesn't connect directly to the motors.
There are 3 wires coming from the connector that plugs into a 8 PIN plug (the one that powers folds + controls the mirror adjustment)*, one is obviously ground, but arent the other ones some kind of 12v where I can tap into?

I just opened the wiring sleeve to see which color wires came from that connector

Or is it better to measure at the CCM itself? (if door lock signals also go trough them)

thought this would be easier in mind, find the 12v volt wires when operating the switch, connect them and done, but i guess not..

If you look at the diagram above. V121 is the folding mirror motor. One connection is the purple wire (power) one connection is the brown and blue (ground) The motors for adjusting the glass are V17 and V149. If you connect 12v to the purple and ground the brown and blue, it should only move the mirror and not the glass. If that isn't the case then i don't know what is going on? Maybe someone has messed with the wiring prior to you owning the car, or maybe the diagrams aren't correct? Either that or if you are trying it with the connector unplugged, it's possible that the power is back feeding into the other 2 motors and finding a path to ground through them, so make sure you have the brown/blue connected to ground before applying 12v.

Another issue is the F260 in the diagram, they call that the 'Mirror contact switch' either that is a physical limit switch that disconnects power when toggled, or more likely that signals to the CCM when the mirror reaches it's limit of travel, and the CCM disconnects the power. Obviously once the mirror is fully folded or open, you can't keep applying power or you will burn out the motor. Being that it only has a power and ground, i'm not sure how it folds and unfolds? Maybe it's some kind of linkage like a windscreen wiper uses, or maybe that contact switch changes the polarity on the motor? Again without stripping down a ,mirror i don't know.

Lastly, how are you planning to activate it when you lock/unlock the car? Where are you getting that signal from, and how are you interfacing it with the power supply to the mirrors?

where in the diagram does it show purple (li) on that power wire? It only says brown/black (for ground?)

(I'm trying to learn wiring diagrams in the meantime)
The motors for adjusting the glass are V17 and V149. If you connect 12v to the purple and ground the brown and blue, it should only move the mirror and not the glass. If that isn't the case then i don't know what is going on? Maybe someone has messed with the wiring prior to you owning the car, or maybe the diagrams aren't correct?
I didnt connect ground to the brown/blue wire, i think you're referring to these 2 wires. (Pin 2)

I first had the connectors plugged in + also tapping into them with the wires (temporary) shoved into them, just like backprobing.
Used another ground on that connector. (Pin 3, on the other side)
I shouldve taken a video of what it was doing when folding the mirror by the knob.

These are the connections I need in order for the module to work.

- red, constant 12v -- easy
- black, Ground -- should be easy
- yellow, Switched 12v -- couldnt find any in the door, have to route a wire from terminal 75X i guess
- Green + blue door (un)lock signal, need to figure out
- Brown + orange are the outputs to the mirror motor that supply power to fold them
- idk about grey + white, iirc needs to be connected so the module gets bypassed when acc is on.

If the module detects 12v from the green or blue wire, it sends that 12v to the motor to unlock/lock them. Atleast thats how it should be i think

Yeah i saw the column 79 but there isnt a color indication on that pic u sent me. (Cant see the notation for purple on that wire)
T12g is probably a connector and thats pin 4 iirc what should be power
And pin 2 from t12g is ground.

I do kinda understand the diagrams now

Oh yeah i see what you mean, it is marked (ll) on the original diagram i have, but for some reason it's missing on the screenshot. It's definitely marked purple on mine though

Havent had alot of time to work on it again, but does it matter which ground I choose? Because things could be ground switched right?
