Folding mirror - now flappy mirror

andyj

There's no F in Quality..
Went out to the car after work last night, and noticed that my drivers side wing mirror had been knocked forward slightly, so I popped it back and didn't think anything of it.....

then when I was on the dual carriageway, I noticed that the mirror had 'moved' in slightly.... wound the window down, and found that the mirror is now rather 'flappy' :(

I can get the mirrors to fold in with a little assistance to get the drivers one to 'go', and then they'll fold out Ok, but the drivers one remains flappy :(

Any ideas?

I've had a search, and it seems that it's a new mirror jobbie.... @ £200 :( just what I need.

Going to have a look at lunchtime, and try removing the rear cover to see if anything's been disconnected etc.

Bugger. Sorry dude :(

I didn't think the new mirrors were that expensive though? I'm sure I found a price of half that when I was looking for the teardrop mirrors recently?

Stick up a post in the 'Genuine Seat parts' forum.

Check the mirror glass is in securely. I had this when I had to replace my glass due to some ****** breaking it. They have a clip that goes round and hooks in securely. When I replaced mine I didn't get the glass in correctly and so it flapped. Remounted and its nice and secure

had exactly the same on my teardrop FR mirrors, the drivers side had taken a whack and had become unseated.

only option was a new mirror which took me months to find 2nd hand, i paid £65 for one in pretty decent condition.

Good idea. All you need is a clear view of them doing it and their number plate or their face and you have enough evidence to go to them with.

thinking back on it, I played squash at lunch and have to park on a dodgy street.... more likely to happen there than at work, as I always park next to a guy with a Mk5 golf who takes as much pride in his car as I do. Also park facing a wall, so unlikely someone would have walked between the two cars...

gutted.
