Folding mirror advise please?

Hi just brought a 55 plate 1.8t fr with the folding silver mirrors. Well they fold in fine electrically using the switch, but they will not fold back out again electrically! The seller said he has always had to fold them back out manually. Is this normal or are they faulty? Is it a common fault? Can they be fixed and how?

Maybe the wire that "tells" them to fold out is broke?
