Fog lights not working with new bulbs

Hi all, I bought some new SMD LED fog lights for my 01 Leon to match the HiD conversion, my fogs work with normal H3 bulbs but when I put the new ones in they wont come on, I have a spare 12v battery so I hooked it up and tried the new SMD bulbs and they work fine that way, I'm not sure if its an earth problem or something else I hope someone can point me in the right direction.

Here's a link to youtube so you can see the SMD bulbs if your not sure what they are.
P.S the kid on the video is a idiot, he takes a few goes to light them up!!!!

Call me stupid but isn't there only 1 wire, that plugs onto the end?
I noticed if you leave the fog light switch on, the normal bulbs wont come on until the metal clip touches the base of the bulb, but this doesn't work with the LED's

You pull the earth of the bulb holder and swap the wires over so the wire off the bulb goes to the earth and the earth now gets the power.

i might look at that, i thought it might be something to do with the earth, I'll have to get it up on the old axle stands so I can see what i'm doing.

Yea ill get some pics up asap , thb they dont give a beam of light and wont help you see better, just look like powerful sidelights. so they are just for show imo, look better than the standard yellow ones though.
