Like the standard radiator on minis it's just not posible to flow air over them as eficiantly as a FM setup.
 
You'd think so, but the article is quite interesting if you read all the way through it (quite long I know...).
 
fornt mount would be better due surface area and amount of air flow through bumper in that position.

i woul dbe really interested to see the difference of using the standard side mount and just moving that to the centre. this could be a cheap way of doing it plus would still see a small decrease on intake temps. but not as good as larger surface area intercooler. anyone tried this ever?
 
The standard smic in the ibiza is actually a different design than the ones in the golf/leon cars.. the whole system uses narrower pipework and the smic is smaller.

also the smic houses the boost sensor, so you would have to start looking at extending wires etc.. plus its a ugly thing anyway... im glad to be rid :funk:
