2006 Leon FR Tdi was in for it's 40k service today. I'd asked them to look at a problem where the car seems to judder sometimes when stationary.

Anyway, they phoned me up and said it's the flywheel that has worn "not how it should" and needs replacing (luckily under warranty) however should this problem have occurred after only 40k miles? Might there be a root cause that needs sorting?
The car is remapped - could that have made the problem worse? The juddering happened before I had it remapped though.

My car has always juddered when stationary, i thought it was was more to do with the fuel being run in the car. not noticed it since i put v-power in for one tank. but worth knowing, will get the dealer to check when the car is in next

Assuming the dealer has got it right that is, lol! :)

Mines an FR TDi anywa, not a cupra so that might make some difference. Like you said, no harm having them check it over if it's still under warranty!

I always run mine off premium fuel but made no difference. The thing is, it's very intermittent - might not happen for days on end, even a week or more and then it'll start doing it all of a sudden!

If its underwarranty im sure it can do no harm to let them replace it if they are willing to.. Can only mean it will last longer when its out of warranty even if theres nothing wrong with it now.

should this problem have occurred after only 40k miles?

Shouldn't need a new flywheel after 40k, but if it's any consolation I have to get one fitted too - my second in three months with only 27k on the clock!!

Remap shouldn't have much to do with it either - dual mass flywheels are a common issue, not just with SEATs

At least they're sorting it now, while you're still under warranty...
