Has anyone actually got one to work on a MK2?

I've just tried to program a MK4 Ibiza/MK4 Golf 2 button remote (1J0 959 753 AG) and it wouldn't work. The frequencies are the same (433.92mhz) but the manufacturers are different. The flip key is Hella and the original one is Siemens. Would this make a difference or is there something else I'm missing, like the locking ECUs?

If anyone can help, I'd appreciate it :)

so is it hard to do?

my mk2 remote fob is doing my head in, the batters ran out and after replacing them it just seems to have died, ive checked the batteries, their voltage is fine and they are the correct batteries, the fob just seems to have given up!

have you tried reprogramming the remote ?? the alhambra remote is easy to programme (same way as the standard remote)
it's the key head that's the hardest part as i've never found one with the same immobiliser as the MK2 so you have to swap the immobiliser chip from your standard key to get the flip key to start the car

The years may go by, but nothing changes eh.. Mr Switchblade :p

who me or Tom

alhambra has the same type of transponder (variable) as the mk2, so should be able to be done (you will need a expert or dealer to do it though, need immob log in codes etc)

i tried that with both my MK2 & MK3 and it would never programme correctly, may have been the wrong transponder fitted when the blank was cut by Seat but the 3 i've done in the past have always needed the transponder replacing

i no longer work for a main dealer so can't get the keys anymore mate, i can do the coding side but i would need your car and keys which would envolve a bit of a trek for you
