Doh! While driving this morning the car infront of me swirved around a jumbo sized pot hole. My skinny 40 profile tyres didnt give the rim much protection and I've got a flat spot on the rim, a chip out of it, and its slightly flaired.
Think my wheel is dead, but my Dad suggested letting the tyre down and hitting it with a rubber mallet. Would that work, or ben safe to drive on?
Thanks
Ollie

If you are lucky then yes but be very careful. I have done this before with total sucess - if not your rim cracks and you are no better off.

Before bringing out the last resort big hammer why not try bunging it on the rear and see if you can feel the flat spot as badly. If you cant then forget about it.

Good luck.

if your gunna thump it with a hammer id recommend warming it up with something first, your more likely to crack or severly weaken the metal if its as cold as it is outside...

Just summit to keep in mind. A local refurbishing outfit told me that after I destroyed a wheel for my cbr :(
