Hi people, please help!!
About six months ago I started my 03 leon cupra R and the temp light started flashing but engine was cold but I was told by dealer that the coolant level was low but I checked that. Then only a day ago it did it again but it gets worse. I was driving in traffic and it started to overheat and I couldn't hear the fans??? Any help would be really helpful. Thanks guys

There are many instances of the fans not working on Leons (and Golfs of the same era for that matter) plus the water pumps don't last long. Have a quick search and it's been covered many times. Coolant temp senders are also notorious for packing up. Get it looked at soon before you fry something really expensive or blow the head gasket.

water pump has recently failed on mine. symptoms were overheating during driving. temp returned to normal when in traffic.

if yours works the other way round then it could be the fan fuses on top of the battery. my fans worked fine.

It sounds like you have the same problem i had. i think its your resisters in your fans. plus check your fuse links above battery. all the info you need will be found in this link. there is basically step by step guides to diagnose your problem and a couple of fixes for it. i just soldered my resisters back on and it works fine now. check out this link anyway, hope it helps as it helped me. http://uk-mkivs.net/forums/ShowThread.aspx?PostID=449470
