Hello everyone,

Just driving home music blazing, next minute BEEEEEEP, first i thaught it was fuel but id only recently filled up, looked down and on the tripometer the spanner was on and "OIL" was flashing on and off. When i got home i looked it up in the car manual, it says engine oil change. Its confused me because iv recently had a full service. Is this an automated message or is it a message thats generated by the car?

Ive attached a picture if that helps.

When they serviced your car, they forgot to reset the service indicator.

You can do it yourself. I forget the exact details - but I eventually succeeded by holding down the knob next to the trip counter while turning the ignition on, and holding the knob for a further 10 seconds or so. It was something like that anyway - you may need to experiment with various combinations of turning the key whilst holding your knob. ;)

It's generated by the car after a set mileage. All it will be is that the garage never reset the service indicator and it's just come up now. Pop in and get them to do it or get someone with VAG-COM. Two min job.

EDIT: /\ Beat me to it!
