Flashing red temp gauge light

sicupra

Guest
Since the cold mornings have started (did they ever stop?) when I start the car it runs for about 15/20 seconds and then the red light on the temp gauge starts flashing with that annoying beep. Once its got up to about 70 degrees I can turn off and start again and it all stops. If I just keep driving with it it will stay flashing until the car is turned off.
Ive seen this on other cars when they are over heating, but not when theyre cold!!!
Is this normal?

Theres no fault codes showing which puzzles me even further!!
Any help grately appreciated.

yea, happens on mine too. Unplug the sensor in your coolant tank, clean the terminals in the connection and in the tank, plug it back in and it'll be sorted - or just let it beep as i do! :)

I had this. Take a long flat iron and give the metal sensor rods inside the expansiontank a good scrape all around. fix fix.

So as I've topped up with water, scrapped the prongs and still have to problem I'm guessing I need to replace the header tank as the sensor is built into it - any ideas how much a new one is?
