FK Coilover Problems

Bought some second hand FK coilovers from the classifieds on here and got them fitted last week.

Look great but the ride quality is not so good. Handles brilliantly on smooth surfaces with hardly any roll at all.

However, on rougher surfaces the ride and handling is really bad. I find I have to go much slower on most roads around here. When I hit the slightest of bumps there is a massive thud from the front of the car and it feels like the car is going to snap in two!

Took a few pictures of the front springs below. Does this look right? The coils seem really close together?

The guy who fitted them said some people remove the bottom 'helper' springs when fitting their coilovers. Is this correct and what would be the benefit from doing this?

Any help much appreciated.
Thanks :)

Think that looks right, the plate in the middle should be flat iirc, twist the springs round until they sit flat??

Mine are fine, bit bumpy occassionally but fine otherwise.

The helper springs shouldn't be removed, just the support plate on the rear to lower it more.
