I'm looking at fitting this pioneer unit, as you can see from the pic below, pioneer show that it fits perfectly. I've put together a list of everything I think I would need, what do people think?

Sat Nav: http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/pioneer-avicd3bt-p-5752.html?cadid=bf24dddfb935e3f19d75676a8420cd68

Power Adaptor: http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/vol...0.html?cadid=bf24dddfb935e3f19d75676a8420cd68

Aerial Adaptor: http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/fak...2.html?cadid=bf24dddfb935e3f19d75676a8420cd68

Steering adaptor(Radio): http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/inc...9.html?cadid=bf24dddfb935e3f19d75676a8420cd68

Streering Adaptor(Car): http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/296...2.html?cadid=bf24dddfb935e3f19d75676a8420cd68

And the Fascia in this photo (Anyone know where to get it from?):

Is this easy to fit for a newbie (especially Steering controls) or does anyone know of anywhere which would fit this system at a reasonable price?

that looks a nice bit of kit :)

I've fitted a few double din stereos before, if you have the correct adapter cables then it's usually pretty easy. Just plug one end into your stereo and the other into your wiring loom for each cable. Removing the old one can be fiddly, I haven't tried on my leon but the removal slots look typical for a double din unit.

Where did you get the list of adapter cables from? Just wondering if you need all of them, without taking the current one out it's hard to tell unless anyone who has done it can advise?

Anyway good luck with it, I'm tempted myself too, any idea how the GPS works with that unit, do you need to mount something on the dash?

Yeah it seems like a great product, just need to make sure everything will work before I buy or start trying to find the money.
It uses an external aerial but I believe u can hide these with the unit or behind the air vents.
I guess it will be very tight with all the wires behind, I want to make sure it can be made to be flush.

Here's what you get:

My car will not be fitted with the bluetooth unfortunatly so it doesn't really bother me.
The unit has bluetooth built in so I somehow doubt it will accept an external input.

I'd google your Sat Nav as you could save yourself £100 on the car audio price.

Yep found that one pretty much at the same time. This does seem to be the cheapest, still a lot of money though and I'm still not sure if even with all the extras it will fit ok and work with the steering wheel.
Also for the fascia can't seem to find a right hand drive version of the double din above.
The one from seat dealers is the curved edges one for the mfd 2 and adapting it seems rather complicated with the golf fascia and super glue.

Yep Friday afternoons are good...

No there isn't there is a slightly more basic version, the avic-d3 which looses bluetooth and doesn't come with the ipod cable, both can be added as accesories though.

Hello!

Has anyone managed to install this unit (pioneer avic D3) into a new model Seat (Leon, Altea), and has full functionality of steering controls (audio, original bluetooth).

I want to buy this unit, but only if steering control works. I know that pioneer has its own adapter for Seat, but it writes only for audio.

I would be happy for any informations.

Thanks

i have the older Avic-x1 (single din pop out screen) which integrates with the steering wheel for control. i got my car stereo place to fit it so can't tell you how easy/difficult to fit but its not easy as it needs to wire into some other bits of the car for gps stuff as well.
not all the buttons work on the wheel but track skip works, volume and mute and i can't remember which button it is but as i have an ipod connector one of the buttons changes playlists as well.
if i get a chance i will try and post a pic for you!
