Fitting headunit problems :(

Hi,

I've bought a 2003 seat leon and this headunit
http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/prod...oducts_id=4903

and an ISO connector for Seat.

After connecting it all up, the head unit does not turn off automatically nor does the car central locking system kick in to un-lock the doors when the keys are removed from the ignition barell.

As soon as I remove the head unit power cable, the central locking kicks in and works as normal. I thought maybe I had a dodgy ISO connector cable so connected my own wire from the "red" power cable of the car, to the "yellow" lead on the head unit - no joy!

I tried connecting the head unit without the ISO adapter, and everything works ok except the head unit forgets settings, so I'm guessing it loses power completely when there is no key in the ignition.

Does anyone have any ideas, or experienced the same thing?

Got no idea what to do

cheers for your help. I removed the connector but didn't do any of the cable swaps and it's working a treat or at least all is working normally that I can see.

Do I need to do the wire swaps? what do they do?

you need to swap the wires if your unit is not keeping its memory when you turn the car off. the red is a switched live, and the yellow a permanent live (used to store presets etc).

Cool, but I think first I'll need to learn how to store a radio channel. Hopefully it won't involve reading the destruction book.

get it to the station you want then just hold down one of the number buttons, it will then save to that number...usually confirmed with a beep noise

i'm guessing you've had a look at the manual by now? if not check out the pioneer website it should have it as a pdf, I couldn't for the life of me find my sony manual so just looked it up online

actually to be honest the manual is in the back of the car but I've been too busy (err okay lazy) to read it. Hopefully will get a chance tomorrow to swap the wires and learn how to use the stereo.
