Fitting Golf GTI pedals to an FR...

Just fitted ali pedals to the FR (in the rain!)

The photos on the Audi forum are good but dont tell you the whole story...

http://forums.fourtitude.com/zerothread?id=2194350

The wiring loom connector on the top of the pedals is very stiff, also the reliese button should be pressed in hard. I snapped it off accidentally! so pliers came out.

The base of the pedal fits onto two steel pins on the floor. It will only break the tags off if you pull hard!

What you need to do is fit a small flat blade screwdriver into the two (hidden) slots in the base plate (Have a look on the replacement & you see what I mean).

The left slot lever the plastic release tag over to the right, twisting the pedal over towards the drivers door.
The right slot needs the plastic release tag pushed into the pedal, then pull up.

Really not very obvious....

it was a bit harder than the vortex post but came good in the end, didn't break anything so the old ones can be sold or kept and if i sell the leon can take the ali ones out and stick the old ones back in. pity there is no dead pedal, would like one of them.

Now. i don't mean to be rude, and seeing as my German is 100% of nothing, but ....... surely that would be for a left hand drive car??? Seeing as germans drive on the wrong side of the road... ;)

Will do. It's a company car at the end of the day a screw here & there wont do it any harm. As long as it stays together for 3 years i'm happy;)

Moley RUFC how did you get on with your LHD MK5 GTI dead pedal?

I can't find a RHD version anywhere so was just going to order the LHD and try and bodge it!

vagparts kindly cancelled my LHD dead pedal order for me and sent an email explaining it wouldn't fit. Proper good service! :) I tried a different tack and enquired about the RHD R32 dead pedal- unfortunately the only ones available are for the MK4 :censored:

The search goes on....
