fitting an oil temperature gauge

Hi all
bought my autogauge oil temperature gauge yesterday, i know how to wire then thing up to do all the back ground illumination and all that, just wondering where do i screw the sender bit into, is there any where on the 1.9tdi 110 asv engine where you can screw this into. My mate has screwed it into something near the dipstick to get the reading, he said it just replaced a bolt or something, will mine go in the same place or is it different on the diesels??

here is a pic of the diagram, and the bit i ringed, i take it this is where the oil temp sender goes or gets its readings from?

on mine, is the same engine, tdi 110 non pd and my car has not got a hole there for this?
so im puzzled of where it goes

My beeza [110 ASV] came stock with the oil temp gauge installed so, yes, your car should have something to screw the temp probe in,,, don't know where it is cos I never cared about it, sorry,,,

well ive got my gauge wired into the electrics to get all the face lights working etc, just need to find the hole for the temp sender etc so i can wire that bit up, anybody know where this goes at all?

still keeping an eye on this as this is what im waitin to do apart from the boost gauge , but cant get done until my egr pipe comes from jabba

a little bump , come on ppl whose fitted them , and what did you do /get , all the kit is sitting in the house , when they should be fitted to car !!

if had them a while now , and theyr gathering dust

I took the easy option. During an oil change I had the sump drilled and the sender fitted on the back of it. I know the oil there will never be as hot as when it goes up into the engine but I didn't want to mess about with the oem sender, so did that. As long as it's consistent, it does the job.

i would do that, but knowing my luck, it would balls up, what temperature does yours read them as its fitted down there?, also isnt there any where else this would go? as i am really puzzled lol

temps average around 70 deg in winter, 75 in summer. The water temps fluctuate much more. On real cold days I don't see much more than 55 degrees, but in summer it's usually in the low to mid 80s. I guess oil is a bit more "stable" in terms of temperature.
