fitting a turbo timer

iv just got a turbo time off some but it looks like the have cut the blocks off the end of the wire (thats nice of them)

i'v got coming out of the back of the TT 1 back wire that is earth so i'll just sitck that to the floor or some metle. 1 brown wire that goes to the hand brake but this is only 1 inck long so i'll have to conect alonger bit of wire for it to reach the hand brack. Then theres a red, blue and yellow wires that has a plastic sleve around them if i'm rite in thinking if i take off the ingintion barale that there would be a blue, red and yellow wire in there and i just have to mach the wires up to the same wire I.E blue to blue, yellow to yellow ect....

And how difficalt is it to get to these wires in the ingintion???

some of them dont let u run it with the alarms, something to do with the volt, as when u lock your door it use up volts and the tt see this and stops but as far as i could work out it was the one that went in2 your ECU that worked on the volt mmmmmmmmmm so no1 done it on on here??

dont want to be ripping thing out then the car dont work coz i would be real :censored: [:@]

all well and good leaving it running with no keys in but you would have to hang around whilst it counted down and stopped before you could lock the doors... imho a little pointless...

ya been told that i would have to take the chip out of my spare key and glue it close to the ingintion so the car would keep running so think its back to the drawing bord with this one mmmmmmm
as i dont want to be pulling sh** about and it could end up costing me more in the end!!!

is it really needed, especially as the 1.8T has the cooling jacket as well.

Just learn to not thrash before stopping. I would perosnally leave it. Or if you have to, disable the SEAT alarm ( which could be a problem with the insurers and go get a clifford alarm with the built in turbo timer.

But is it worth all that money?????

I can't imagine you would be able to get insurance if you were leaving the immobiliser chip glued into the car.

The turbo has it's own water cooled jacket anyway which VAG built in (runs after the ignition is turned off) that coupled with the fact oil is far more advanced these days means a TT is pointless

AFAIK you may have still have issues with the Police, leaving a car with the engine running without nobody inside and you will have problem with your insurance, etc, etc................and there is a water pump that circulates water around the turbo when the engine is turned as I said above.

kinda makes the TT pointless, expensive and could cause issues with the authorities and insurance companies :shrug:

A big reason for having the TT is the oil in the turbo, as when you stop it all settles to the bottom of the houseing and covers the blades, when you start the car the blades have to cut through this now thick oil (cooled down oil) which isnt good. So the TT keeps the oil pumps working after the car has stopped to remove as much oil as possible, thus prolonging the turbo life

If the TT is fitted right then you can leave ot running and lock the car, but by lawa you cant leave a car running with no one in it

I think you have been sold a line by someone. Where would the oil that you think is in contact with the turbine blades come from? The turbocharger's bearings are well sealed and there should be no oil in the inlet (other than a light mist from the crankcase breather).

The compressor blades are well clear of the bottom of the outlet casing.

A turbo timer usually keeps the engine running to keep oil circulating through the hot turbo to cool it down before switching off. If the car is swtiched off immediately after a high-power run then the turbo will be hot enough to burn the oil in the bearing, which is not a good thing. The 20vT engines all have water cooled turbos and a system that keeps pumping coolant through the turbo after switch off - effectively a built-in turbo timer.
