Fitted ok3s today - do you need heat sheald?

Iv spent all day fitting the ko3s to my car, its all don but my problem is the heat shealed that sits just above the zorst mani wont fit back on because of the fater airout pipe on the turbo. i could cut it up and MAKE it fit, is it needed?

Any help or pics would be good

dont quote me but not really as I never done it nor addo and lots others, been running my car for 2-3 years without it

my heatshield is lying in the shed with the other spares.. wouldn't worry about it
