Hi all,

Fitted my laguna intercooler today:) wow what a difference! I didn't think there would be such a benefit considering amb temps are so low, but i couldn't be more wrong.

Everything has improved, power, engine note, power band and exhaust note. Definately worth the 200 odd quid.

Bit of a bitch to fit mind:)

I have come to the conclusion that the standard SMIC on a remapped car is completley useless, it actually does nothing.

Thats good news to hear. I bought mine a while ago and not got round to fitting it yet. How was the guide to follow? Dis it manage to get it center'ish? I got the same sort of mods as you so reassuring to hear it does make a good difference! What things during fitting it were a bitch??

Thanks, you'll be really impressed with the results!

The guide is good although it could go into more detail. Bitch points were doing up hose clamp from the boost pipe where the new hose meets the original one. (very bottom of pipework which comes over the engine) theres not alot of room at all, i used a tiny strongarm and socket in the end.

Also there is a bit in the guide which says "when you get to this point you may need a different degree bend" WTF  I managed to jig all the pipes round and got it to fit in the end without having to order more hoses!!.

No the intercoolers not central at all, but you never know by how much until you put the bumper on. I can't see how you could keep the towing eye with it central but i know people have done it.

So did you just order the pipes that were on the guide and they were all fine? Got my IC off a forum member and it came with all the pipes apart from two but im sure i deff needed them. Did you take any pics at all of it during and after? How long did it take you in the end? One other thing... what size jubilee clips did you use for the hoses?

Really want to get mine done as soon as. When i got the forge tip on i thought the turbo spooled up a tad faster and made a better noise, so good to hear that the IC adds to the noise!:)

Yeah used all the pipes the guide said and all ok, it took me about 8 hours in total lol nothing really wen't wrong it's just making sure everything is right! I ordered 7x 50-70 and 4x 45-60.

i didn't take any pics as got no batterys for the camera. I didn't really notice a great deal of difference with the forge TIP but the intercooler is a massive difference with spool up time. I wouldn't have said there would be a difference in noise either but i was quite suprised! The exhaust and engine note has changed.

Brilliant. Goit to get those jubilee clips ordered up and try and get it fitted soon. I heard these run fine on KO3S set up fine aswell. Such a good value for money mod and proven with logs!

i'm not buying fmic for mine till next year but was thinking same laguna or uni- so don't know myself which one to go for.

really depends what uni you're talking about...

the one many on here use, THS one, has been logged and came out good. Laguna setup has also been logged quite a bit and came out good as well up to about 250hp (more than enough for stage 1 and 2 on k03/k03s)

laguna doesn't look as good as others, but it does the job well and costs very little. I did mine for about 110 euro's (problably around 70-75 quid) which is pretty good imo.

As for taking 8 hours to fit it...wow...:headhurt:
but you got it done in the end, so good job.

i think which ever set up you go for will be a massive improvement on the smic.

my car was RR'd on a hot day in april, peak power came at 4200rpm (like a soot chucker lol)

Since fitting the FMIC the power band has quite noticeably shifted towards the higher RPM's where it should be.

I ran a forge intercooler on my old diesel 130 (the one on forge website[B)]) and the quality is second to none, however for the money the laguna is just as impressive.

I have the Laguna on mine but I have nothing to compare it to unfortunately, but mines revo stg1 and I love it! I'm just a bit of a tart and prefer the look of the THS so may be changing next year?
