Car is due its first service soon.
Was a demonstrator when I bought it a couple of months so only has a 3800 miles despite being almost a year old. I knew I wouldnt have it long before it needed a service but am slightly shocked by the cost of what must be a very minor job. Its a 2.0 TDI sport manual.

Phoned around my local dealers for quotes ...
Camberley Service Centre £ 230
Spur Garage Hampton Court £ 222.69
SMC Datchet £ 198.50

does this seem reasonable for an annual inspection service inc oil change ??
Ive read good things about camberley but dont know about the others.
anyone else have some cheaper suggestions in the berks/bucks/surrey area ??

thanks,
Nick

Sounds expense to me! Just had my 2.0TDI Sport's 20k service and it came to £179. Depends where you live and cost of dealer overheads i guess.

You don't have to go to a Seat Dealer to get it serviced, as long as they are VAT registered garage and use proper parts it is ok to keep the warranty intact

Just had a quote for a service at 48,000 miles. Came in at £340 inclusive of parts, VAT etc. Seems high to me. Anybody else had such a service and how much should I be looking at. Am going to phone around a few other places as well, but wanted to get a feeling from here as well.

Thanks

Peter

Seems pretty reasonable if you ask me. An inspection service at 10k on the A3 is £340 at Reading Audi (oil and oil filter change, new pollen filter, (no air filter I hasten to add). Dirty b@$t@rd robbers. If I hadn't been paying fixed price maintenance I'd have hit the roof as I never thought to ask ahead of the service.

£170 isn't cheap for what they do, but without service stamps in the book they'll get you later on. How far do you travel before you've inconvenienced yourself and paid on mileage / wear & tear.

Call up a dealer in Midlands, like Listers, get a quote off them and ask SMC to price match it. I think I have heard someone do this before (make up some story that it won't inconvenience you as you have family in B'ham). In these days of tough times you may be surprised what lengths they'll go to in order to secure the business.

now the following comes to mind:
my ex Megane Sport had a maintenance plan that came with the car...i was told i wouldn't have to pay a cent even if the engine jumped out.
now with my FR there's a service plan...how much does it cover and doesn't cover?

thanx,
RodneyA

I paid 256 at Spur Garage in Wimbledon last year (where I bought the car), it is on the pricey side but they did a very good job and if you live in London, it's pretty much the price. Try M1 Autos in Watford though

My FR is due it's first service, in fact it's book in tomorrow. Dealer in Acocks Green, B'ham wanted £220, JustVWAudi £116 and MidlandVW £90.
