First Proper Detailed Clean

blackie

I'm Tyrannosaurus Alan!!!
I have had my cupra since Feb this year but with work etc i have literally been giving it a hose down, quick sponge was and thats about it!

So i have splashed out and bought a few bits...

Meguirs Hot wheels wheel cleaner
Meguairs XL Wafffle drying towel
Meguairs ClayKit - Cla, Lube and finishing cloth (halfrauds 3 for 2 lol)
Chemical Guys - Maxi Suds II
Chemical Guys - Strong Wash
Sheepskin Wash Mit
Chemical Guys - Pete's 53 Paste Wax
Clearkote Wax Applicator Pads

So my questions are....

I have used a few quick detailing sprays after cleaning recently, and this has helped the water bead quite nicely, but obviously it does not last long. I want to strip all waxes polishes etc on the paint so i have a fresh base for the wax, so will the Chemical Guys - Strong Wash good for this?? I have bought the Maxi suds for when i wash it normaly, after i have waxed the car.

I will then give it a good drying with the waffle towel obviously.

I was then planning on claying the whole car, as i understad this will remove any contaminants and impuritis in the laquer. Once the car is clayed do i was again?? With the Maxi suds maybe??

Do i need to use anything else prior to begining with the wax??

Oh and any tips on waxing by hand?? Have bought some pads that are supposed to be quite good. I have a cheap polisher thing i got as a present (wasnt a PC unfortunatly!!) so could i apply the wax by hand, then buff off using the machine??

Sorry bout all the q's just want to get it right first time lol

legend! i saw the other week, tryed to give it some to come after you but you were off mate"! all your stuff sounds about right although i am no longer a fan of the megs towels and went for sonus der wunder drying towels, washing after claying is a good plan too, no doubt some other peeps on here will be able to clarify as they have more experience! but yeah when i saw your car it was blinging!

You're doing ok with your list there, make the strong wash a strong solution (no pun intended) and it will act as a paint cleaner. The clay will take care of the rest. So that you don't cause any marring, use the clay lightly with lots of lube, you can't use too much. Washing again after is a good idea.

If yo uare going to polish the car, now is the time to do it, otherwise just get your wax on there. Don't waste your cash on those crap machines. If you put the waxon properly (i.e. very thinly), its a cinch to just lightly buff it off by hand.
