hello all,

I recently purchased a seat Ibiza 1.2 reference sport. Compared to my fiat punto 1.2 this is a very quick car. i am unsure if there has been any changes as its a sport or if it is just the seats and the gear knob that has been changed and hence called a sport model. Its 3 years old and runs like new. i am very pleased with the car and hope it continues to run as smoothly. only problem is the rear washer does not work. any ideas?.Please comment if you know what the sport version has compared to the basic model.

cheers

iv had two mk4 models (1.4 formula sport and now cupra tdi) and neither of the rear washers have worked, its just a usual fault with the cars i think.

Probably becasue the pipe has become disconnected... open the boot and unscrew all the torx bits then pop off the rear panel. Easy peasy :)

is it an easy fix. i am still under warranty will that be covered?

Some garages will fix this under warranty and some wont :( Mine cost £45 last year to have it re connected in 3 places (so they said). Trouble is its cold and wet out and i did not feel up to doing it myself.

I run with a 50% screen wash mix and its been fine this year touch wood. :)

Before you go taking the boot panel off, look under the firewall area passenger side, that's where mine comes disconnected, take you less than 30 seconds to fix it ;) If not, as said above, boot panel :)

I've had 3 MK4's a 1.2sx a 1.9TDI Sportrider and a 1.8T Cupra
All three have had this fault, All three have been back under warrenty to be fixed. The pipes popped off somewhere down the line. its a common fault with the car not caused by wear and tear you should NEVER have to pay for it!

Not just limited to mk4`s... I`ve just reconnected it on her mk3, she said it had stopped spraying and could hear the water sloshing about in the bootlid!

Ive got a Formula Sport presently from new (2007) and had the rear washer re-connected at least 3 times under warranty now...

I try to avoid using the rear washer to be honest and it still finds it way off! I also led to believe that Polos also have the same common issue?

Had 2 mk4's (1.4 16v 75 and 1.4 16v 100) and both have had this problem haha.

I just got my Formula Sport and 5 mins after having the car delivered I noticed it never worked and now I'm a master at fixing it. So took me 30 secs to fix!

Mine has only ever popped off in 2 places. Mostly under the bonnet (look to the right hand side, behind the battery towards the brake servo and the pipe is there) and above the rear wheel arch (a pain to fix, remove some boot trim and carpet to gain access to the panel on the right side of the boot, it's tucked up inside there). You can check where its come off by holding the washer on for a bit and seeing where the water drips from. LOL. :)
