Fire Extinguishers, where to put one???

Ever since seeing the video of the Mk4 Golf going up in flames on here last year I have always had that thought in the back of my mind about what the hell am I going to do if the car starts spewing smoke from up under the dash (irrational maybe but I’m a coward and I don’t want my toy to go up in flames!!!)

I got (for Christmas) a happy 1.25Kg extinguisher, now, the only problem I have got is where the hell do I stick it????

I have spent some time skulking around the boot of the Leon but I just can’t seem to find a decent and sturdy enough place to mount it, any one done this????

At the moment I’m OK if my PC goes up in a puff of smoke cos it’s stuck in the office but that’s not a lot of good if the car decides to have a moment!!!!!

Cheers.

personally i have had em just in front of the seats but drivers side can come loose get under ya feet especially in an accident (throw one at 40mph at the back of ya legs se what that feels like) and passenger side same problem really

front to back on passenger side of console be my best idea so its in reach when needed - sorry IF needed ;)

I hadn't thought about sticking it 'in' the car!!! I will have a look tomorrow.

Other thing to do then is to sort out my battery charger/keeper and get the car on charge (I aint using it enough!!!!)

If you put it in the boot the only thing it'll be good for is helping someone else put their fire out.

That said - keep your car insured & if it catches, run like the wind.

mine was always in the passenger footwell, anchored to the base of the centre console.

Now in the pug, it's anchored in it's own little housing inside the bootlid, along with hi-vis vest and first aid kit.

As mentioned, only useful there to assist in others' mis fortune. I agree tho, if the car catches fire, get out and watch it at a safe distance to make sure it's a total gonna.

Had a very small electrical dashboard fire in the fiesta, it stunk for months!!!!!

Yep if your car starts smoking just get everyone out, get to safety and call the fire brigade.

To get to the engine you have to lift the bonnet, as soon as you do that the fire gets a great influx of oxygen and WHOOSH!!! no eyebrows (if you get lucky) that and usually the bonnet is too hot to lift and you end up badly burning your hands/fingers.

Cars can be replaced and that`s what insurance is for. You can`t be !
