I have just got a new 56 Ibiza FR 1.9tdi pd and would like to get a flip key, to replace the normal spare key. I know there are threads which detail how to get new flip key configured/programmed for my car. However i cannot find out what frequency my current key has. I have opened the key up and cannot see anything which will give me an indication. please help. Do i need 433 or 434mhz.

Also, I've heard that it doesn't make any difference which one you get - daveyonthemove had a thread either on here or over there about it

A quick search on EBay will bring up allot of flip keys for various VW's, Audis etc. Firstly, don’t worry about the frequency! All of the VAG range runs on the same frequency, but different keys are marked up either 433 or 434mhz, but they are actually in between and rounded up or down depending on which key you have. (My SEAT key is actually marked up as 433, but the key i bought was 434) Find a good one and try to get it for about £30-35 (I paid £32) as they are easily
bought for this price. (Make sure it has a blank blade included)

being part of the flip key thread when it was live it seamed that it made no difference

It's like saying your engine is a 1.8 when it's 1796cc

1mhz is nothing, just get the flip key that is cheepest and have a good read of the thread in the FAQ bit

The manufacturer of the key has to be the same for the remote to work. Hellas don't work with Siemens, and vice versa.

I had a flip key on my old MK4, its the same one as used in the MK4 Golf, the remote fob ends in AG.

Yes i am looking at the remote key, there is nothing on it apart from CE on slightly transparant section, and HAA and W3 stamped on the blabe itself.

There is nothing on mine, must be either a new key design or they have just missed it. thanks anyway. I'll going for a 434mhz on ebay just now. Will let you know if it works.
