I measure the distance from the top of the tire to the lip of the arch. In the back I have about 20mm and in the front about about 45. TBH i expected even a bigger drop in the back. Its still quite high up considering I only have 15's

I'm sorry but that looks level.

Dont forget the front arches are higher for clearence around the steerable wheels.

If you measure the height from the ground to the front & back of the sills that'll give you better idea if its higher at the front.

OK, I just went out (into the freezing cold and did some more measurements). Results:
Ground to sill "line thingy" distance:
Front- 19.5cm Rear-18.5cm = 10mm difference

Top of alloy rim to the lip of arch:
Front - 10.5cm Rear - 14.5cm = 40mm difference

Now is it just me or is this just wierd. I measured everything twice just to make sure.

does need lowering more to be fair, but much lower does require coilovers i think. the springs not fittig in the holders is apparently an MOT failue but mine come loose when its jacked up and has never failed so maybe consider it... i have but decided against it on safety grounds. some people cable tie the spring to the seats so it doesnt move also.

id measure the 'levelness' o the car just by how you want it to look. i know it may actually be level but it doesnt look how you might want it to, which i can see your point, it doesnt look all that low a the front

FAO JENK:-
when you get someon to change a wheel and do work on your car how do they jack it up, mines pretty low and a jack wont go under the front and i had to take the wheels off mine to make it just fit under the front (wheels off the jack). thing is tho, that most garages have big useable jacks and nearly everytime someone stics one under, when they let it down it pulls the skirts off nearly, then just get fobbed off that its too low and its my fault.

oh, andthe back of the red car sits fine considering 15"s not on coilovers, looks about the same as mine did until i got 17"s, then the wheels sit nicely in the arches

it was m0rks fault :p

Thats impossible if you've a bigger gap at the front.

:)

the front arch is taller becuase of the steering, thats why it looks higher than it actually is.

You can get uprated top mounts that lower the car around 15mm like Jason says.

Lowering spring caps

jason said:
bonrath sell lowering spring caps,10-15mm iirc.not sure of a uk importer these days though

http://www.bonrath.com/e/go.htm

I have found some lowering spring caps on Venom motosport. £15 for a pair, which isnt that bad. And is probably the safest way of lowering the front "further" 10-15mm, without doing anything dangerous like cutting the springs.

I have a question tho: Which ones do i need. Do i need special Ibiza ones, or will the ones for a mk3 Golf work as well???
Cheers

ooooooh i get ya now.
i thought u meant u were getting rid of our coilovers as opposed to the whole car, 2500 tho seems a good deal all the same...

want to swap it for my 1.4 8v? lol

ull save on fuel in the long run ;)

think i might be giving these upper suspension bits a try if it drops it that bitmore, been wanting it a bit lowerer ver since i got it but cant stretch to coilovers, so onto the venom website i go
