Hey guys, finally got my 8v and I am WELL pleased with it! I have the following (not uncommon) faults that I need to fix:

Rattling at low revs when cold - I understand this is the manifold or middle of the exhaust (fine when it's warmed up!)

Remote central locking - works fine to lock the car, just have to press it about 20 times to lock it!! Aparently the sensor is located in the rear view mirror

Anyway, love the car, can't wait to sort the alloys out and look forward to chatting with a few of you about anything and everything....

PS - Got to install a small amped sub in the boot and I think I have enough info from other threads to do the wiring etc. Anyone else had a problem with the DIN head unit (replacement) being a bit of a squeeze ? Also, anyone fitted any replacement component speakers and what size are they.

James.

nice :)
wiring amps is staight forward enough.. most H/U's I've fitted to Mk2's are 'normal/standard fit' rattles from the exhaust/heatshield are the 'bane' of mk2's..
Remote locking .. dunno.. been lucky , I guess...:)

what you thinking re the alloys?

and where in the world ARE you ??

Looks pretty cool, liking the colour!

Not overly keen on the twin headlight conversion though, you going to be keeping that? :p

Also, colour coded side skirts and front splitter would look sweet...!

Nice car you got there... in the best colour obviously. The Morette's look good on it, I don't think most like them, but they are retro with the age of the car.
Whats your choice of wheels? I went with the common option of upgrade to the MK3 Cupra rims, which look really good, but every other MK2 has them!

Re speaker upgrade. I've got Pioneer components in the front of mine which made a great improvement. You can buy these as a direct fit, which are also listed as MK4 Polo, and I think MK3 Golf? Keep an eye on Ebay, I've seen some on there before. The rear speakers I've got JBL components, which are from Halfrauds. They're 6"x4" in size. To be honest though they don't really make mush difference, as they are too small to get a decent sound from them. A small sub in the boot is sufficient for the rear with upgraded front components.

Good luck with the car, be interested in seeing what you do with it.

Nice car mate. With the remote central locking it depends on what type you have. IF its and IR remote (infra red) than the sensor would be located just below the rear view mirror. If you got a RF remote (radio frequency) than the receiver is located behind the passenger glovebox/airbag. You can tell which one you have because the IR needs to be pointed at the sensor, whereas the RF would work even if pressed whilst still in your pocket.

i had a problem with my remote, also had to press it like 10 times to get it to work. To find out if you have a faulty remote, take it down to your local Car audio/alarm fitting center, and ask them if they could test your remote on the Radio frequency tester. Chances are that the remote is bust. If you go to a SEAT dealership they will try and rape you by charging £120 for a new remote. BUT you can also get them from ebay for about £20. Just make sure that you get the right frequency. They are sometimes advertised to be for a Ford Gallaxy as well as the SEAT.

Once you got your new remote, do a search one here how to program it (takes 10 seconds), and hopefully all will be sorted.Well it did the job for me [B)]

Thanks all. Much appreciated - especially the different types of key fob / tranmistter! I'll be looking on flea-bay ASAP if it's not working correctly!! [B)]

I didn't like the morette's when I first saw them but they have grown on me and they'll be staying. They make it look a little different from normal! ;)

Wheels won't be getting done for a while (cash flow!) but I would like to go for something like a nice 5 spoke (boring I know - but classic look!) or maybe even the RS4 replica's from 2modified depending on how well the company I work for does and if I get a bonus!! 17" of course...

LOVE the colour, looks better in the flesh and I know what you mean about the boot. I've got my trusty Haynes manual so I'l be making sure that it's adjusted properly (hoping you wouldn't have noticed!!!

Thanks for the wiring tips too, I'll be getting on the case this weekend (if I can wait that long!) or this week in the eve but prefer to do work like that in the daylight as I don't have access to a garage anymore... :censored:

Thanks again and I'll catch up with you soon and post some pore pics once mods have been done!
