Hi all,

I’ve been looking at all the options available for the Leon in this thread http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=62535 (found in the FAQ area).

Very interested in the following items, but have a few questions on each which I hoped you could answer…

• 1M5 017 221 - boot net
Anyone got any pictures of this fitted and is it worth getting

• 3B7 947 105 F2EN – W8 Light housing
• 3B0 972 706 – Plug for W8 Light
• 000 979 131A x 2 – Wires for W8 light

Reference the housing, I see most pictures of the item are grey and this won’t match my black roof area on my LCR. Is it possible to get the said item so it looks more OE in my LCR?

• 391 51S 6AE 02 - Honda Civic Stubby Aerial

Presume the above is a Honda part number?

As always thanks for your help!

with regards to the w8 light; some people have sprayed them black successfully; but they didn't come in black from the factory at all.

lol i got/had all 3

The net is ok, doesn't allow a great deal to be secured to stop it rolling around.
W8 light is a very neat mod, the two red "ambience" leds that shine down....nice touch.

Had the Honda aerial didn't like it so got one of a C2 iirc.

With regards to the W8 light, according to vagcat they do grey or sunshine beige lol, neither ideal in a black headling, your best bet is to get it sprayed if you want it black, trouble is that the buttons will still be grey/beige.

I fitted a W8 light to my car last night, very nice although I can highly recommend getting the wires stated as I decided to just locate some at work, which wasn't too successful and cost me a lot of time, in the end I found pins that would hold on the terminals and fit in the plug housing and no problem will be encountered but its not the best solution.

Also if you are following the fitting guide from on here, the guide doesn't actually tell you which wire to put the dimmer line to, it just says do it as is shown in the pic. In the pic it looks like the outer pin but in fact the wirescross and its the 2nd pin in. The wire is grey/blue if i remember correctly but you will spot it as the 2nd pin in from the other side is black/blue i think. Either way the end that its on the last 2 pins are both grey wires with a different trace colour. If need be I can check the colours for definite for you should you take on the mod.

Thanks for all the replies.

Think I'll leave the W8 light, would love the ambiance lighting (at night) but don't want to go through all the hassle only to find I don't like the look of it in the day (even if it sprayed).

Thanks again,

Charlie

I think the W8 light is well worth doing if its a straight fit job, in your case having a black headlining adds a lot more to the job in either painting the cover or having an eyesore grey one and I guess could tip it. I think for me it would actually because of the hassle of getting it black.

Just can't be arsed to make it black... exactly ;)

Could have a go at spraying but my thoughts are it would look sprayed and may even stand out more the the grey version.

Oh well, never mind :)

Easy to spray, the cover comes off. remove window. clean well then couple of light coats with halfords satin black, as for buttons, permanant marker works well and misses clear bits for light to show through!
The buttons in W8 light, light up so you and passengers can see them at night!
