Fault Code 18047 - Help Needed

NOS EXUP

Guest
Hi

I have a fault code on a Seat Ibiza 1.9 SDI 2000 model Engine Code AGP

It has a 61 pin ECU part no 0281 001 911

The fault code is 18047 Accelerator Position Sensor 1/2 (G79/G185) Implausible Signal P1639-35-00--

I have already tried a new throttle potentiometer sensor part no 028907475AP Bosch No 0281 002 339 same as already fitted to the car - fault still present.

I have checked continuity from the throttle sensor plug back to the ECU and all 6 wires at the plug have continuity back to the larger 40 pin plug so no breaks in the wires and only 2 of the wires also have continuity to ground - pins 3 and 6 on the throttle connector

I have checked the voltages on the 6 pins at the throttle plug with ignition on -

Pin 1 0.366v
Pin 2 5.0v
Pin 3 0V continuity to ground
Pin 4 2.32v
Pin 5 8.2v
Pin 6 0v continuity to ground

Pin 5 is unused by the throttle pot sensor as it only has 5 wires

I can clear faults with VAG COM with ignition on - engine starts instantly but as soon as i touch the throttle pedal there is no response and fault 18047 is flagged and engine speed raises to 1100rpm with no throttle pedal response.

All pins in the ECU connectors look shiny and not corroded - connector seals look ok
The ECU is located in the scuttle near the window wiper motor - the water drain holes from this area are clear although the ECU Casing is corroded/rusty.

I have owned from new and has 116k on the clock

Pulling my hair out now not sure what to do next....

Any knowledge from Auto electricians would be appreciated

Thanks

Nick

if its on a leon i would say check the wiring plugs under drivers side wiper in black compartment entering car as these can have corrosion in block connectors
