Hey all

Finally got my stealthbox last week and fitted it. (ordered it 2nd december) First corner I went around it fell over. Now I just lay it in the middle of the boot cos I dont want it to do the same again and damage something.

Velcro is shockingly cr*p.... Doesnt seem to hold much at all.
AAcoustics are aware they have this problem and advertise on the install sheet that you can get some more sent to you if needed.

So I requested more was sent.
I have now been sent 2 strips that I wouldnt consider enough to hold something 1/4 the size/weight.

Has anyone done anything else to support it/stick it in? Perhaps bolted it somewhere? If so, where?

I am gonna have another go with the velcro and put on as much as possible over the weekend, but i dont think its going to help.

The velcro actually works better with only 1 have of it being used (the hooks part) and having it grip onto the boot carpet, rather than the opposite half of the velcro, as the sticky backs are weaker than velcro and just pull the velcro away from the side of the car.

Anyone got any ideas?
Please help

It fits in with your rear Brace in then?

Funny thing is mine never used to hold with the velcro, but after degreasing the plastic trim it buts up to, it's been fine!

I've also modded the boot tidy tray to go back in, so that stops it from falling over aswell:)

i sold my boot tidy tray cos I didnt think it would all fit in.

Absolutely LOADS of room with my rear brace in - so no problem there.

Cheers Pete, I will look at Becky's install and see where you have bolted it in. I didnt really want to drill a hole in the box, but if its the only decent way to hold it in then so-be-it.

yeh. PITA if you have to install/remove the sub from the box to remove the box from the car tho :(

I found the pic - that hole (triangular one) must be the one the 12v cig lighter comes through in my boot, so I know where it is at least...
Cheers

ok guys.

Firstly i am not stupid, and ignoring advise from the likes of ICEMAN and m0rk is just plain stupidity in itself. I am not suicidal, and so I took your advice and bolted the box in.

Thanks for the pics pete, helped a lot. I found a short threaded bar in my dads garage an some nuts. Drilled out the hole to 8mm and nut on either side, poked it through the boot carpet and drilled a hole in the back of the stealthbox. Pushed the box onto the rod and put washer and nut on the inside. Then installed subwoofer.

Bl**dy thing aint gonna move an inch now ;)

Cheers for your help guys! Once again I bow down! :worship:
