This might sound a bit stupid, whenever i turn off the car a fan comes on and stays on for about 5mins - im thinking its to do with the turbo? Dad has a leon cupra and hes dosen't do it. Any ideas? John

it is like a turbo timer i think, but still important to let it cool down before turning off!!

is it not the water pump?

Its's under the from slam panel in front of water pump. i would do a search as i think its been covered but no sure what its called.
I think mine may be knacked. I moved the car to fronf the runway and it came on when i stopped. I took the car down the road and gave it some and afterwards it didn't come on:confused:

thats too cool the engine down so if you give it some down the road it'll have loads of cold air going to it there fore not needing the fan.

Good point never thought of that!
When i noticed where the pump was located i prodded it a bit and it seemed to change tone as if it was pumping faster, I'll maybe keep an eye on it

sounds fine mate. Look at your water temp gauge, if this rises the slightest bt over 90 then the fan will kick in, sometimes in traffic on a hot day it will, when your driving 30mph + it shouldn't!!!! If it does you have problems!!!!

Thats one thing I always watch. It always sits bang on the 90 even on a hot day!I noticed one of the pipes ran to the turbo so was just a wee bit concerned it was to cool it after it had been ran

yeah i learnt my lesson on my old car!!! i didn't see the temp gauge go up!!! rather than changing the thermostat i basically need a engine rebuild!!!

Just read my recent service and mot info, says the engine cooling fans were in-operative - and has been rectified. Must be ok. Temp guage always sits at 90.
