failed on both front tyres, and head lights dipping to low, and i need a whole new headlight, as the one they ordered was for all ibiza's except the cupras! so i've gotta fork out even more money! and the two front tyres set me back 130 quid and that was the cheapest i could find. wont get the car back till wednesday!

i new one would fail, because tread was boarderline, but the only reason the other did was it had a bulge in the side of it, which i didn't know about, i always put it in to the m.o.t without doing anything, just to see if i can get it through without sorting things out which might not need it, e.g brake pads, i thought would be a definite failure but they all passed, another year out of them or atleast 6 months. its the point that the new headlight will prob cost a bobm just because i need the cupra one!

well that's just the joys of motoring, to be honest. sometimes things do need replacing... .fact of life unfortunately!

the gti one has an extra bulb allowing 1 for dipped and 1 for full beam whereas the other models have one bulb to do it all.

its ok saying i'll take it in and see what happens, but surely now you have to pay for re-tests & book it in again its worth doing a simple look around?
things like brakes, tyres, suspension etc ain't worth leaving till they fail, it's your safety on the line

I don't understand that way of thinking. If you knew it would fail on the tyre why not replace it before? Especially since to fail the MOT means you were driving round on an illegal and dangerous tyre  As for the bulge, well again I'd have checked them for this before hand.

Just because your brake pads pass the MOT doesn't mean they will last another 6months either

no of course but it saves paying out for pads as well, when i have'nt got the money. but i get my car m.o.t'd by a friend of my familys, so its always free for re-tests! should have mentioned that! but its the bulb thats annoyed me. hate not having my car. but i'm upgrading to a 20v turbo in the next year or so, so not too botherd about brakes being low, there not that dangerously low yet anyway! plus as i say better for me so spread the money out over a year or so, than pay the whole lot now, just haven't got the money.
