Facelift Cupra

Hi Guys,

I have recently bought a 2001 "pre facelift" Leon cupra. it is completely standard at the moment and i would really like to have the "facelift" bodykit put on it.

As I wouldnt be able to do this myself i would be looking to get this done in a bodyshop. Obviously the stealers are going to be the most expensive way of doing this but does anyone have a rough idea of cost to have this done in a "normal" bodyshop?

Also if this is going to be really expensive would it be worth maybe just having the black plastic crappy bits on the bumpers and side trim sprayed and fitting some better alloys? Has anyone done this and if so do they have pictures?

Cheers
Jamie

£1500! Not cheap is it! lol I could have probably bought a facelift version for the difference in price to be honest. What did you pay for the car originally? I got mine for £3300 and it is a 2001 but only has 38k (genuine miles i live on the isle of man) on the clock with 2 owners from new with full SEAT dealer history. I have just had the comfort unit replaced which cost me £300 (didnt realise it would be that much when i bought it!). I do love the car but really do prefer the look of the facelift version! Have you seen any "pre facelfit" versions that have just had the bumpers colour coded with better alloys on? As this must be cheaper?!?!

Mines a 2002 and had 64k FSH and I paid £3000 for it about 6 months ago but I've spent atleast that again on it.

If you look in the readers ride section theres loads of pictures of what your after.

I was saying £1500 for new parts, if you used second hand you'd save quite a bit especially if they were the correct colour.

Thanks for you help.

Yours is really nice by the way!

As i am pretty new (very new) to car modification are there any reasonably easy/cheap performance modifications i could be making?

Also any ideas for alloys? Preferably something that will look good without having to lower the car as can really cant afford to do that at the mo!

The most popular mods are....

Replace the standard panel [air] filter with an uprated one and increase the size of the air feed to it [you can smooth the inside of the box and even drill it if you want more sound] £60ish

Replaceing the standard dump valve with a uprated one such as the Forge 007p is a very common mod as the standard ones often fail. £85ish

Uprated TIP [Turbo Intake Pipe] £70-120ish

Remaps anything from £200-500

HID headlamp kits are quite popular and can be had for around £60

Boost gauge, anything from £25

Debadging the tailgate costs nothing...

rear ARB for increased handling, front upper and lower strutbraces start from around £60

I'd personally lower it before fitting wheels or it will look a bit like a offroad truck :D

Ok cheers I will have to look into it.

How much do you reckon it would be to have it lowered and how much should i lower it by? Does this affect the handling at all?

I would say it would handle best about 35mm lower and look best about 45mm lower so maybe 40mm is a good compromise! :D

Shocks and springs kits start at £130ish a decnt kit is £400+

I would say 2hrs labour to fit a suspension kit plus you'll need a wheel alignment.

Any brands of kit i should be looking at and websites to buy off?

Would it worth buying second hand or should i just go for new with something like this?
