F1 - Mercedes-Benz & McLaren Question!

Hi folks!

Having a moose of the BBC F1 site http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/motorsport/formula_one/drivers_and_teams/default.stm i've noticed Mercs and McLaren aren't McLaren Mercedes anymore...

were they a team in the last season?

I think Mercedes bought the Brawn outfit and rebranded it Mercedes. They are still supplying engines to McLaren.

As he said, Mercedes wanted a full on factory team, so they bought out Brawn GP. They are still backing McLaren for another 6 years though to give them time to find finances to support being at the top end of the grid
