Extended Warranty cost

Our lease comes to an end in April, a 21 plate car, debating whether to take out a fourth year but incur MOT and extended warranty costs, or source an alternative car.

I guess the original sales were around this time, and those of you who are coming up to 3 years ownership will now be in the same situation as me.

Has anyone been given a price from Cupra as to the rough cost of a 4th years warranty?

Thanks

The brochure I downloaded at the time I bought my Formentor (Feb 2022) has a Extended warranties page, £375 for the fourth year, £625 for fourth and fifth years. I assume a brochure is still available to download.

I think these prices are for purchase when you buy / lease the car, for existing owners it refers you to your Cupra Retailer, so back into the void of knowledge... I can't imagine the prices would be different, and would assume they'd try to rip you off, I mean offer you an extended warranty as you approach the three year expiry of the manufacturer warranty.

I don’t have experience of extended warranty products for Cupra or Seat but with VW, the warranty options when a car gets to three years old are either the ‘All In’ product (2 yrs warranty, 2 yrs servicing, 2 yrs roadside assistance and 2 yrs MOT cover) or a one year extended warranty. VW no longer offer a 4th and 5th year extension to the original new car factory warranty; they used to but dropped the option around 4-5 years ago now.

With the one year extended warranty, the price you pay is determined by the level of cover (All component or specific named components) and the excess chosen.

You can arrange extended warranty cover through the VWFS website for VW, Seat, Audi and Skoda brands. Not sure about Cupra though, so it might be worth checking either the VWFS website or contacting VWFS direct.

I have the ‘all component cover’ extended warranty on my PFL Cupra Ateca. This is a one year policy and is from insurewithseat dot co dot uk. Cost to renew in May this year was £423. The car was 4 years old in May.

I'm going through the same, in my post from Nov 15th.
My Cupra care package has come to an end as it's just had it's 3 year service, but when I try and find a new package the website says I still have one in place and I found out it lasts until 23rd July 2027. This is apparently because if you HAVEN'T used all your services you have until then to use them. I have emails backwards and forwards from VW finance/talkseat and others all trying to buy a package now my current one has expired. I have to actually contact them to cancel the package that has already expired before I can get a quote for a new package, even my nearest Cupra dealer can't quote me because their system keeps showing them I already have a package in place.
I don't know why it is so complicated to get a quote and try and give them some money in exchange for an aftercare package.

Sorry to revive this thread, just wondering if anyone took out extended warranty on their Formentor VZ2 310 with Cupra / Seat main dealer, and what the cost was?

Just over a month till my warranty expires, so investigating options.

Do you know which part of the app for this?

Can't seem to see it in mine, only the Cupra Care part.

I called Cupra dealer today and they said they are not set up to sell Cupra warranties, and only way to do it was to do it via the Seat website

Just takes me out of the app to Cupra Care plans, Cupra Care is for servicing, and I already have a Cupra Care plan in place, warranty is separate I believe.

But anyway, getting a bit sidetracked, all I wanted to know was anyone who had a extended warranty how much it cost.

It won't show me on the seat website yet as when I put in my details it says it's not less than 30 days till expiry.

With VW, the cost of the extended warranty will vary depending on the vehicle model, level of cover (all component or named component), excess selected and annual mileage, so it’s probably the same for Cupra - assuming the same pricing structure is used across the main VAG brands for the extended warranty product. Paying monthly or making a one-off annual payment also affects the price.

Apologies; I know I’ve not answered your question but another forum member’s warranty cost might not be representative of the price you would be quoted if the information used to calculate their warranty price is different to yours (i.e. different model of Formentor, different annual mileage, different cover/excess selection, different payment frequency).

Hi Lorne, when I had my Passat I looked up a similar car in auto trader and used the reg of that to get an online quote. The 'your warranty hasn't expired' thing is a pain.

I just bunged one in on a 2021 Leon VZ3 300bhp, under 10k a year, no excess is £38 a month. £250 excess is £26 a month. Full cover. Named component same excess is £24. Just find a car on trader with the same spec and it's easy enough to get a figure.

Nice one, cheers will try that!

Was hoping they would have the All in plan available for Cupras by now, as it is much better value, but Cupra says there's nothing in place for it yet.

Managed to get a quote, £60 a month for extended warranty only! Might have to rethink keeping the car, that's ridiculous!

I had a 2018 Mk 7.5 Golf R previously and 2 year ext warranty + 2 services and 2 MoT was only £34 a month.

It's almost like they are priced because Cupra don't want to cover them.

Can someone share the link to get the online warranty extension quote please?

I really need to sort out what I'm doing 30 days ahead of the warranty expiry, as with previous cars the extended warranty cost has made me put it towards the deposit for a new car...

It's this link, I was told to use this by Cupra dealer who weren't set up to sell extended warranties.

You put in your car reg, mileage and excess and it gives you a price, but if your car has more than 30d warranty left, it wont give you a price.

Advice I got from a post above, was find a car on autotrader same spec as yours that is 3 years old and use that reg number, for example a 70 plate car if yours is a 71.
