Hi there

i am looking at getting an extended warranty in place - does anyone know if Seat do such things? For info I have a 54 plate Cupra R that has just come out of warranty.

Thanks

My 04 plate LCR was nearly out of date so i enquired for the possibility of an extended warranty, nearly fell over as it was on the high hundreds if I remember correctly!! Somewhere in the region of £900 i think...?!

I have extended warranty from budget works out £18 a month for total cover over 2 years which works out about £250ish

...

...

But trying to claim on these is like stopping a p*ss up in a brewery. Always make up boll*x and say the damages occured by a foreign object and isnt covered or damages are due to wear and tear and also isnt covered stuff like that. But i heard budget is quite good! so i thought id give them a go

I recently had a quote from Seat for my 2005 Cupra R (via head office as my local dealer couldn't do it) Was £746 for a year. Warranty Works have quoted £310 for a year with no cap on labour rate or claim. Not keen on spending the money but worried about not as I had to have the radiator, cooling pipes and turbo replace in July becasue of a faulty turbo.

I've had my car since new (May 2003), the only problems I've had out of warranty are the powered wing mirror which I don't use anyway as I have a private parking space, twin fan jobby (bought the NIME resistor box and fitted myself) and coolant level sensor (scraped this with screw driver and never had any more problems with it).
I doubt the need for an extended warranty as far as I see it (without looking through the policies) there is basically nothing covered that wouldn't be put down to wear and tear that realistically you might be worried about. It's a betting mans game.

I'm still not sure these extended warranies are much cop tbh, when i bought my LC in August 06, against my better judgement i took out a 3 year cover from an indipendant at £495.

Normally i would shy away from such extended warranty covers, but seeing as my last 2 car's have given up the ghost after only 12-18 months i thought perhaps it might be worth the peace of mind, even with it being a VAG based car....

As yet i haven't "had" to make a claim on it thankfully, but when i asked about a suspected small hole in the cv gaiter the dealer i got it from, was very unhelpful, and i ended up having to get a bit nasty to get them to do make enquiries in the end it was ok, and didn't need doing.

But i still have to ask is it worth it, cos theres always a get out for these warranty covers... and only once have i ever actually managed to get my monies worth out of them...

What did you have to claim for?

It was yonks ago (1988 ), when i bought an XR4i and the steering went after 3 months, and the dealer replaced practically the whole front of the car before they listened to what i was telling them, ended up costing them about 2k in the end...

Car steered lovely after all that...
