Exhaust tip

OK, so my car being a diesel and all I'm not really looking for a big sound out the back, however I still want a decent tail pipe out the rear end. Being totally skint at the moment and all my mate suggested just getting a decent exhaust trim instead of replacing the actual exhaust, which is fine in theory but the diesel exhaust droops down to a 90 degree-ish angle. The next suggestion was to cut the very tip off the existing exhaust (the curve bit) so I'm left with just a straight pipe, and attach the trim onto that.
Wondered what people thought about this... any danger with cutting the tip off?
I know it's extremely ghetto but it is just a temporary solution till summer and I've got a trim lying around already so it's not gonna cost anything :D
cheers,
-ghetto dan :clown:

Please dont make it look Chavvy.... so easily done when trying to cut corners...
....cant see any safety issues with shortening the length of the tailpipe already fitted. I know what you mean about tight wallet, everythings being done on a budget at the moment...

hacksaw??? ANGLEGRINDER!
daz8161 had a spare exhaust tailpipe (little like the oval LCR endpipe which welds onto the box, would take a bit of working but would look well if possible)

lol yeh my financial state at the moment is laughable... is the end of term so I've spent all my money over the last few weeks at uni :( been livin on pate and bread sandwiches for the past two weeks lol ahhh the student life :D
well i think i'm the biggest anti-chav ever so it most definitely won't be chavvy. If I do it, I'll do it right or not at all! Not going for anything extreme, just something subtle. I've had another look at the car and I don't think you'll be able to tell at all that it's a pipe trim when it's done. The trim i've got isn't one of those massively long ones either so it's not gonna stick out too far at all. Might need to cut a little into the black trim under the bumper to get it to sit nicely though.
If nothing else, it gives me something to spend my time on for a day, just hope the damn weather holds out!

A lot of that stuff has come off my 1.6.
The only real £££ things i have done to my Cupra are CAI and Wheels. The CAI was relatively expensive, but worth it through and through, but the wheels were cheap cheap!!!

18" MB Italia Alloys, 225/40 Miceline Pilot Sports, and all the sandpaper/primer/basecoat/lacquer to customise them with black centres came to under £100 !!!!!!!

Resourcefulness pays off...

Ahhh, you did the alloy colouring yourself? I've got some old BBS's I was thinking of restoring myself, maybe go with black spokes too... what was your method? Happy with the results?

Take time and do it properly:

-Sand down the area you want to paint with 400/600 grit sandpaper.
-Mask off the area you dont want to paint.
-Prime it. One light misting coat + a couple proper coats.
-Base coat. 2/3 Coats. I used Matt black for a deep shine.
-Lacquer. Plenty Of Layers. Compliments the Matt Black, with a shiney, but not overpowering shimer to match the polished bodypanels.
-Remove Masking Tape 'carefully'.
-Fit Wheels and touch up any areas scatched by tyre/wheel fitment with gloss black touch up pen.... (it will happen no matter how good a paint job you do)

Jobs a good-un
