Exhaust (powerflow) woes

Recently had fitted a powerflow exhaust (2.25") fitted to Ibiza FR 1.8T, it is making a turbulent sound from exhaust when given some welly, which sounds crap.

I know what you will all say so don't need told you so. LOL

Should I get a milltek but can only afford to replace cat back system or upgrade to custom system turbo back 2.5" (not from powerflow). Dont want to get stung this time.

Basically is it the size of the exhaust which is the problem or the workmanship?

Advice would be great.

It has been back and does not seem to be blowing. It doesn't do it went just reving and the car is stationery, just when pulling hard and turbo spooled up.

my experience of my local powerflow outlet, wasn't a good one!
The tube wasn't mandrel bent, more like pulled round a form! So your pipe starts off life as 63mm, but actually ends up nearer 50mm at tight bends!
Then there was the welding......

Oh dear!

After that 1 visit i will never go to a powerflow outlet again!

With the milltek you know your getting a quality good product!
Thats why i've got one on order!

Oh Dear sounds bad then? That is what another custom exhaust place, sound proof systems, said might be wrong he claims his pipes have mandrel bends . Looks like Milltek then

With a proper exhaust manufacturer you are getting a pipe which has been specifically designed to work with your car! Whilst I know some custom exhaust fabricators have a good rep, many dont and seem to produce crappy restrictive systems, which make your car sound chavvy and may even restrict performance! At least with a Milltek you know what you are getting!

There was a massive waiting list mate, loads were on backorder! Best off ringing Milltek directly and asking them how long u wil have to wait! I had to wait over a month and that was with Mike from JBS badgering them for me! :)

to start with 2.25 is too small, you might as well have kept the standatd one.

we do custom exhausts turbo back and the quality and performance is amazing,

Sorry but anything bigger the 2.5 and people with mk4's have have loss of power, guessing due to loss of back pressure.

With your cupra R K04 then that fine, bigger turbo, but with the K03s then it ain't got the required pressure. Someone one here was running a 3" and complained about loss of power and ended up buying milltek.

Air21005: liking the RS4 replicas. spacers on front and rear? or bigger alloy?

what you do is have a 2.75'' downpipe to get better flow out the turbo to the cat then a 2.5'' cat back that will give the desired flow and not be worthless when you want to go for more power.

We have a customer that had the same problem with powerfloew, the system was strangling the gasses so was making a terrible noise!! My advice would be to remove the system and put the standard one back on, before you cause more damage!

Just took my gleaming new Milltek cat back still and packaging to be fitted to FR 1.8T. Waited an hour whilst it was fitted to find the wrong tail pipe was sent!

How I wish I had checked that the paperwork matched the products!
